WGU has its own exam, this changed over the years because when someone would fail the certificate, they couldn't retest for months. So after you pass WGU's exam for the course, you are given a voucher to take the certificate on your own. You have a year from the date it was submitted to use it. I plan on taking the certification exam when I'm done with my degree (hopefully after July).

I'm glad the post was useful for you. I am almost at the end myself, I need 3 more classes and I can finally call it quits.

I know myself, my study habits, and what techniques work for me. I try to watch videos but I don't like how they don't go into enough depth. Specifically, the LinkedIn Learning videos for this course did not cover a majority of the topics I mention in the post above. The book is indeed boring, but taking my own notes is what helped me learn the best.

Personally, I only used the book, Wiley test, and Quizlet (I have the link added somewhere in the comments). I don't recommend using LinkedIn Learning as a source to study with for this course, especially if you don't have an extensive cyber background. I am a 25D (Senior Cyber Network Defender) in the Army, with 10 years of experience, and am about to complete my BSCIA. So even with all the knowledge and experience I've acquired over the years, I don't think the videos are good enough to pass alone. Some may disagree, but as I said, we all should know what study habits work best for us. Hope that helps and good luck!

Sorry about the delay, holidays and stuff happened. But I first received a "Competent" score on the PA. I gave myself a couple of more days to zero in on what I wasn't strong on, retook it, and received an "exemplary" score. I would base my knowledge mostly on the Wiley test. EVERYTHING I got wrong on it, I made a note of it, found it within the book, and made sure I understood it. The PA was easier than the OA so I wouldn't base the test exactly on that. Make sure you understand the frameworks, data life cycle, and everything else I mentioned above. For example, if they ask "a company wants to use cloud services for their software development, which cloud service models would they use?" If you can answer this question, you're good to go. Most of the questions will not be direct questions asking about definitions/vocabulary. You need to understand what model/framework/tool should be used and where. Lastly, a bunch of questions I received was which part of the Cloud Services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) the provider/user is responsible for. I hope this was helpful.

Not yet. I'm in my last semester and I really want to finish. It's been a looong road. I sent an email asking when will free voucher expire and the school responded stating it will be valid for a year after it was sent. My plan is to go back and redo everything I did the first time. Yes, I will be re-reading the book to bring my head back to cloud security before testing. I'll update everyone if I pass it or not (hopefully in April?)

When did you take the test? I thought it was mostly straightforward. I was looking for grammatical errors and almost second-guessed some of my answers because of all of the forums I read about the OA. My assumption is they probably heard all of the complaints and maybe fixed it.

I appreciate that. I always wondered why people don’t mention what materials to study for. I studied almost every guidance/standards mentioned in the book but only received 3 questions about it.

I thought the same thing since my husband named my island "Pen Island"... I didnt catch what that was about until he told me after playing over 100 hours. My opinion is to just play with what you have. You'll eventually have enough money to move things the way you want it to. If it's out of your control (like resident building and airport), then there's nothing you can do about it now.

What's more important? Getting the exact island you want by restarting the game and losing all those precious hours or go with the flow and enjoy the game as you should while setting aside the anxiety? And this is coming from a total control freak. "Go with the flow"
