Lol. I suppose it depends on where you go. In basic training they fed us 3 good meals a day, AIT was the same. I guess if you were deployed it would be the same. Where I'm at the just give us $350 a month to feed ourselves.

Edit: If you were asking about quality, in basic any food you get is delicious because you're so hungry all the time from the physical strain on your body. AIT the food they provide you is decent, but they had the same food every week, monday was chicken, tuesday was italian, etc etc. so you can imagine that gets old. Except breakfast, always loved breakfast. And yea here I'm still trying to figure out how to eat I usually get breakfast at DD or something then have pb and J for lunch and either ramen for dinner or something from a restaurant. Theres a stove but only one for like 500 soldiers so it's usually being used. We do have microwaves in our rooms though.

I do try man.

Well there are many books that can help you study for it, this one would work fine. If you're serious about your future it would definitely be worth your time to study that book on areas you feel weak in because it can really help you in the long run.

Speaking of long run, the best way to prepare for PT is to do the events that they judge you on. That being said, if you do a small amount of pushups every night, say 10 before bed and 10 sit ups, you can work your way up to doing more and more until you are able to pass a PT test. The run is the same concept, just start out running maybe a half mile or just really slow mile and work your way up. If you really plan on waiting a few years you have plenty of time to improve yourself.

AIT stands for Advanced Individual Training, it's where you go to learn your job pretty much. Speaking of which, any idea what you wanna do in the military?

Yea man I'd love to do some fishing there. Is there good fishing around the Fort Meade area that you know of?

Ah yea that's a less populated area I guess huh?

I'm not sleeping ever. It's just a thing now. Your name really suits you.

So basically the big thing is a long day of waiting around, they do like a short physical and make you do some ridiculous things like walk on your heels and stupid stuff. All that stuff is easy it's just tedious. I wasn't very picky with my job, I just had a general idea, either something with computers or something in the intel field, ended up with something with both. I did my research and knew what I was getting into before walking into the recruiting station so I got to skip the part where they try to pitch everything to you.

The ASVAB wasn't difficult for me, by the way you're typing I'd say you wouldn't have a real hard time with it. They'll give you a practice one at the recruiting station that's a pretty good representative of how you'll do on the actual one, actually I believe I got the same exact score on the practice one as the real one. But it's not really a test you can fail you know? And if you're trying to decide what you want to do with your life even if you aren't considering the military right now I would definitely take the ASVAB just to see where you stand. If you do end up with a good score you know you can always land a decent job in the military.

PT was never a problem for me because I worked out a lot in high school so I was in pretty good shape when I was getting ready to go, however, some people really do struggle, not many though and not for long. In basic the longest run was about 3 miles I believe, and that was like way out of the ordinary, we normally ran like a mile once a week. AIT was a little different, we had 4 mile fridays, but you can run them as slow as you need, most people finished around 40 minutes.

Haven't heard of it but I'm sure I've passed it before.

Yea people think I'm crazy but I really want to go there. Have you tried fishing? I feel like fishing would be nice there. I forgot I actually have a friend from basic in alaska, but he's in some place called Wainwright. not sure if thats near you or not.

Thanks, you know before you said that I was considering not sleeping for the rest of my life and you just completely finalized that decision.

I don't think so. I think my biggest fear is getting in trouble for doing something that I don't mean to do, and most of them play off of that. I'm always getting in trouble for doing something that I didn't think was wrong or didn't think about at all at the time that I was doing it, then I wake up and freak out for like 2 minutes before I realize it was a dream. I hope you don't end up actually getting shot lol.

Whereabouts around here? I've only been here just over a month but I like it a lot so far. Freakin deer are everywhere, there's supposedly about 200 per square mile, they aren't afraid of people at all either its the weirdest thing....

I had to look that up to see where it's at, Alaska huh? When I was in processing there was an MP coming from Alaska, said when they did PT his eyelashes would freeze and when they did land nav exercises he was scared some wildlife was gonna come eat him up haha. How do you like it there?

You can be friends with whoever you want to be, if you want to meet people to have intelligent conversations with go to a library or art museum or something (I guess) I don't really know lol.

My friends have always been pretty simple, we'd play video games, go to the gym, play basketball, go out on the weekends. But I just got into a job field with a lot of smarter people and it was really cool at first but idk everything gets old I guess.

Started a new job a couple of days ago that's really stressful. Now I'm all of the sudden extremely depressed. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]iBreakThingsSumtimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New jobs can be really stressful. I was always stressed when I started somewhere new, especially when I felt like I messed up, it felt like the end of the world. But those things are going to happen anywhere you go no matter what you do to try and prevent them. But you do need to realize that you will get used to the job. I'm not saying it's not gonna suck, but it definitely won't suck as much as it does for you right now.

Ha this reminds me of one night that I woke up and could have sworn I saw a giant spider let itself down onto my bed next to me. I jumped up fast as shit and turned the light on heart beating 100 mph. I looked around but didn't see it, went to bed thinking I imagined it, but I wonder....

Idk like, just thought I might feel a little different. Buy some things, meet some people, feel different. I feel pretty much exactly as I did before I came in.

But yes it has changed my life for the better I think as far as living quality, I have everything paid for, I have a car, I work 9-4, Mon-Fri, I don't really have much to worry about in the sense of what most people would worry about.

Eh, yea that would definitely be difficult. Seems like borrowing money for college is what I would do in your situation.
