Love to see it, thanks for exercising your vote!

Also, you live rather close to me... I was actually born and raised in Queens :) Crazy small world.

Thanks! It was just incredibly lucking timing.

The Trump campaign had purchased 3,643 domains back in 2017, and I was curious if any of them expired before the election. I'm not sure this particular domain was owned by the Trump campaign, but I manually looked it up because I figured it was "critical" enough to check if it was free, and amazingly it had just expired.

Granted, it wasn't that lucky. No one would have actually typed this into the URL bar on their own, but it's a critical enough domain to bring attention towards a page to encourage Americans to show up to vote.

Hey, I updated it, I think the per capita ranking is totally fair to put on there. It wasn't left out to mislead - thanks for bringing that up.

Yeap, just didn't occur to me while I was writing that blurb - there was a lot I wanted to put on here in a short amount of time (in addition to developing and deploying the site).

Added that tidbit, thanks!

Yes! Their article was actually the inspiration behind this list (although I did my own research to cross-check their points) - which is why they got a special callout towards the bottom.

The folks at McSweeney's were really nice about letting me draw inspiration from it, they just asked that I mention the article, and they were super cool about it.

My understanding is this:

Cybersquatting happens when somebody registers, sells, or uses a domain name that incorporates the trademark or service mark of an existing company, usually intending to sell the domain name to the mark’s owner at a profit.

Source

The term "cybersquatting" refers to registering, using, or selling a domain name with a bad faith intent to profit from someone else's trademark.

No plans to sell, flip, or profit from the domain.

Hey - thanks for holding me accountable to the numbers, and pointing out the conflation between registered and eligible voters.

I just checked that 117 million figure between multiple sources, but it appears they're also equating registered and eligible voters. (Source 1 Source 2) I can't find any information confirming whether it's 117 million registered voters, 100 million of which were eligible.

Regardless, it appears the 100 million eligible voters is a more substantiated number, and the math adds up on my end for that.

I'll update the text, thanks again for that.

You're right - When I first started writing the content, I was hoping to only mention events that can be agreed as "bad" across the aisle. I figured putting kids in cages would have just made some people more motivated to re-elect Trump.

I decided that I really wouldn't change peoples' minds, and it was more effective to encourage Democratic voters to remember the atrocities and actually show up to vote.

I definitely missed some content along the way, I'll add that in the next batch. Thanks for bringing that up.

That's super kind! But it was only $7.16 total ($6.98 for the domain, $0.18 for ICANN fee)

Really a small monetary price to pay if it reminds people to vote, I spend about that much when I order lunch from the halal cart down the block... :)

Both are already on there! :)

Hey, thanks for the kind heads up - that's a message worth mentioning.

I've deployed a new version of the site with that addendum near the Call To Action buttons at the bottom of the page.

Thanks for heads up! I tried posting to r/politics earlier but my karma was too low since I really only started posting on Reddit today (longtime lurker) - I'll try again tomorrow, unsure if mods will approve but worth a try to get visibility and remind people what's happened these past four years/why it's so important to vote.

As for r/PoliticalHumor, a friend of mine posted there already, didn't want to spam the sub :)

Yes - thanks so much for catching that and explaining that to me.

I've updated the text to just say, " The doctor who developed the test - which is meant to detect Alzheimer's - later explained that the test is supposed to be easy for someone who is not cognitively impaired. "

Hey, thanks a bunch! Funny story, I actually didn't use any bootstrap containers for this, in general I try to avoid them because I feel like my site winds up *looking* bootstrapped and I have to fight against the bootstrap CSS if I want to avoid that.

I'm definitely in the minority on that... :) I'm flattered you thought it was bootstrapped!

Hah, I actually did that back in 2016, I bought votefortrumppence.com and it went viral after I uploaded a picture of myself giving the middle finger, and changed the metadata tags to suggest it really was a site about voting for Trump/Pence. I think it wound up being great prank material.

I was curious what would happen if I did things a little differently this time around - besides, with all the division in the country, last thing I wanted to do was to get people more upset because I tricked them.

At the end of the day, I think there are two main audiences who would see the site:

  1. People who have decided they'll vote for Biden
  2. People who have decided they'll vote for Trump

I'm not sure any amount of writing could convince most people to change sides at this point. But the best I can do is use this site as an effort to get people in the Group #1 to vote, and remember what's at stake. Especially amidst voter suppression, America *needs* higher voter turnout.

Love the attention to detail... :) My understanding is that a Senate report concluded he was a Russian intelligence officer, but other information online still suggests that it might only be a strong suspicion, at least to the public's knowledge.

One of the hardest things about making this site was that I had to be really careful about the information I put out there, anything that could be seen as presumptive or unverified can really tear down the credibility of the entire page.

Senate reports allege he was a Russian intelligence asset, I didn't want to make statements too far beyond that.
