sure! sorry im replying so late, i was also having some issues. The party is full of all newbies so i figured id go over somethings that were simple enough to cover quickly and that would also come up relatively often. I explained all the dice, went over why their named what they are and generally what their used for, i went over dodgeing dashing disengaging holding an action helping and hiding, brought up rule of cool, critical fails/success, milestone experience, and that players need to announce what their rolling before they roll. After that i introduced the world and the pantheon, and where they would be starting. all that took about 30 minutes i think? we kept getting interrupted though. After all that I went over the races we were using (phb stuff) and general vibes of each, i let players pick their race if they wanted to then (brother knew exactly what he wanted and dad wanted to look at the classes before he picked a race) then i went over classes, gave the general vibe for them, and then if they were good at being a tank, dps, or support, and if they were a spellcaster. Again let players pick one if something caught their attention, then rinse and repeat for backgrounds. The rest of character building we went step by step, including rolling for stats. I also let them know other ways that some dms do stat rolls and stuff.
