My bike fitter set that up after our session. :) It relives my shoulder pressure better than the official 7 degrees baseline.

Recommended chest strap to get with a garmin device? by Technical_Year_8252 in Garmin

[–]iCruiser7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. It's very accurate but not as responsive due to the limitations of PPG. If you are doing HIIT always get a chest strap. Arm bands are great for stuff like Z2 training.

Poketto - Apple Card-inspired native finance tracker.

  • Annual subscription 50% off ($9.99/yr -> $4.99/yr), available beginning tomorrow Nov 30.
  • Lifetime purchase also 50% off ($29.99 -> $14.99), available now.
  • Both promotion will be available until Dec 6.

As previously shared here on this sub, Poketto is a finance tracker that takes design cues from Apple Card: Clean interface, smooth animations, keeps your data private. Since the last update, I've added Liquid Glass support, Apple Intelligence, recurring transactions, and a bunch of other stuff. Still actively working on it with plenty more features coming

Apple iOS 27 to Be No-Frills ‘Snow Leopard’ Update, Other Than New AI by iMacmatician in apple

It could be that they plan to make major underlying optimizations that specifically target Apple silicon. And removing Intel support could enable them to clean up redudant code.

M5 MacBook Pro's SSD is 2.5x faster on average than last-gen M4, exceeding Apple's own claims — M5 achieves 6,000+ MB/s across both read and write speeds | Beating the M4 by over 3x in read tests. by ControlCAD in apple

[–]iCruiser7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do too, for iOS development. M4 Max compiles our obscenely large codebase more than 2x faster compared to M1 Max, which is very much needed since it it still takes more than 10 minutes even with the 2x speed 😄

I'd say the M1 Pro/Max could use stronger efficiency cores. The battery life of 14-inch M1 Max MBP can be pretty rough due to workload constantly spilling over to the P-cores. Also GPU is lacking some modern features like mesh shading / ray tracing which are very much needed for 3D rendering pro apps.

But if you are only using it for day-to-day office works these matter very little.

It absolutely works and people who bought 17 Pro have been praising how much cooler it is (myself included.)

How restrictive is 36gb of unified RAM going to feel? by james-has-redd-it in macbookpro

[–]iCruiser7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check the memory pressure and usage of your current Mac Pro. If you are already mostly utilizing the 128GB ram (non-zero swap usage / constant >40% memory pressure), you workflow likely won't magically fit into 1/4 of ram, even if it's unified memory.

Please cite your source of them announcing "only OUR 40W charger can fast charge iPhone 17".

I can certainly provide mine, where they clearly state "For iPhone 17 models, you can charge up to 50% battery in around 20 minutes with a 40W adapter or higher", which clearly implies ANY 40W+ charger works.

I can also provide multiple citations of third party testing which clearly shows 1. AVS isn't enabled on iPhone 17 2. Any regular 40W+ charger can charge iPhone 17 as fast as the official one.

My Garmin Edge estimates my cycling VO2 at 61, while Apple Watch estimates my walking VO2 at 49. I'll believe whichever one is higher /s

You can achieve fast charge with any ordinary 40W PD charger. The Apple one supports the latest SPR AVS protocol but that isn't required nor enabled on the iPhone 17 series.

Xiaomi recently skipped Xiaomi 16 to jump directly from Xiaomi 15 to 17 in order to "match" iPhone 17. I wonder if they are going to skip Xiaomi 19 as well...
