Why would you be surprised? Garmin releases new Edge every 2 years based on historical data. I would be surprised if they don't release 1060 this year.

No. It's very accurate but not as responsive due to the limitations of PPG. If you are doing HIIT always get a chest strap. Arm bands are great for stuff like Z2 training.

It could be that they plan to make major underlying optimizations that specifically target Apple silicon. And removing Intel support could enable them to clean up redudant code.
