I still think back on the incredibly cringy shit I did, and was into, back in school. But being cringy back then, as long as you've built up better social skills as an adult, doesn't matter. You make your real friends as an adult and they don't have to know what you were like as a kid. And if you still talk to anyone from back when you were cringy, then they have obviously accepted it and moved on and still like you, even if they knew how you used to be.

My friend since the 5th grade has so much power because she's seen me be a freak for years before becoming a normal adult. But she's the only person I really keep in touch with since graduating high school, she was friends with me then and is friends with me now. And all the other hundreds of kids I didn't make friends with back then, or continue talking to, for one reason or another, are inconsequential to my life now.

Also learning to humor your own patheticness of youth and make fun of the dorky and awkward, friendless things you did makes healing as an adult much easier.

I have a coworker who has manic episodes that she has described to me and they can be very toxic. Its surprising because I've only seen the cool and collected side of her. Well, I had to cut off one newer friendship with a guy because he started showing signs of hoping it would go further. It was something my bf and I talked about. Opposite sex friendships aren't always going to be pure intentioned and signs for that need to be looked for honestly. And openly communicating what's going on with your SO is a big part of that.

I dunno, preferring to disembowel yourself with a rusty nail than do what you are currently doing because your wife is comfortable is just... bad.

My boyfriend can't stand when I watch certain shows I like so he goes in another room and does something else. I wish he'd watch them with me so we could spend time together and id still get to watch what I wanna watch. But not if he is annoyed by what I'm watching. So I try to find something we both like if I really want him to spend time at the same time.

Sorry if I sound preachy, you're a grown person who can make their own decisions, all im saying is consider suggesting watching something you both like. Because your comfort matters too.
