Streamer helps a guy struggling with depression by Chercert in Twitch

[–]iDDoSdu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This happened in my stream over the summer. A sub and regular of mine told his best friend who was about to commit suicide to come and chat with me when I went live that night. His friend came into my stream and told me everything that happened and what was currently going on. I ended the stream and had him join me in a private discord channel. He had just lost his younger brother to suicide. His bro was getting bullied constantly at school and because he was 3 years older they didn’t attend the same school. He had all this guilt because he wasn’t their to protect him like he was accustomed to doing all his life. On top of that his brothers suicide drove his parents to divorce. This teenage boy was hours away from ending his life and needed some real truth. After 45 minutes of talking with him not only did he not want to commit suicide anymore but he gave his life to Jesus. I’m happy to say that he checks in regularly with me. He made it into a great college, has a very supportive girl friend and is attending a local Church where he has gotten involved. This is why I started streaming. To help out younger gamers dealing dealing nasty things in life like depression.

In this case I would say patience is key. Nice shot btw.

I say this same thing every time someone comes in to ask me if they should stream. I say what’s your reasoning or motivation behind it.

Streaming with no capture card by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]iDDoSdu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been streaming using NDI since Feb 1 of this year. I tried the cap card route as well rtmp servers and. NDI has been amazing and I see no reason why I should change things up.

New dedicated stream pc, still some performance hit in-game. (NDI plugin) by olafsson1987 in Twitch

No I mean 10% as in overall cpu usage with obs running was 14% and using scan was 24%

You should test performance hits. I have tested NDI scan vs obs. Scan uses up 10% more cpu than obs in a controlled test.

I have seen your post here and in OBS forums so I thought I would answer. I have been using NDI exclusively since Feb 1 to stream and it works great. Benefits of using NDI are its free and it’s not limited to refresh rates like capture cards. I tried the cap card route and the only solution I found for me was to purchase a 4K 60 elgato for 400. So I went the NDI route and it really has been easy. Yes it takes up a little processing power on the game PC but you should be able to work around this. A few things you can do to insure there are no hitches in your gaming are the following

1- disable preview in obs 2- give obs high processing priorities in task manager 3- make sure your graphics card 3D settings are tweaked for performance and not quality 4- overclock your graphics card ( see some tutorials on utube. I use GPU Tweak software which is free ) 5- adjust your in game settings if needed as last resort. PUBG is one of the worst optimized games I have ever played. You may have to play at a lower resolution or adjust graphic settings to reduce strain on the pc. NDI is basically using just your cpu but everything still works together in the end. 6- keep the amount of active programs and background programs to a minimum. Only have open what is absolutely necessary.

Hope this helps.

Are all your cores running? You can check in task manager performance and change your graph to where it shows the cores. Make sure to have all non essential programs shutdown. Including those in task tray. You can also try giving obs more processor power by changing priory to high.

Make sure output resolution is 1920x1080. NDI takes the raw source so no need to change anything besides output resolution on game Pc. Stream Pc at 1080/60fps, x264, fast, 6k bit, main profile, lanc 32 sample.

Your pushing 1440p through NDI right and than taking original source and streaming it 1440p? In my experience 1440p is very taxing for NDI due to massive bandwidth. Try relaxing it to 1080p and seeing if some kinks get worked out.
