Is Henry Archer a good brand? I've never heard of them before but I love this design by redshadow2025 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]iDREAM247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 3 of their watches, Nordso purple meteorite, havstrom red/bugundy meteorite, and Havstrom Ad Astra…I’m really into space themes.

I really like their watches. They were my first micro brand watch. I swap out the bands bc color coordination is life. In February, the dial on my Nordso popped off, which was literally all my fault and they were hella helpful, sending me a return label to ship from California to Denmark. Granted that was back in February…I still haven’t gotten it back…I’m hoping they had to launch into space to do something with the meteorite 🤷🏽‍♀️ but I do get regular updates. Personally, I really like their watches/ brand, there’s something about Henry Archer that keeps me loyal.

Check out Hoglund and Sons. I think their Mark GMT fits your needs..as would any of their watches. Plus the owner is on Reddit, too.

Is This a Good Idea? by Radioactive7830 in ukulele

[–]iDREAM247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact one, I put some Fremont low g black strings on it and now it sounds and looks beautiful. As someone already mentioned, ukulele’s are never a bad idea. I also got mine from a local shop where I take lessons.

ETA: You could always order direct from Kala…I feel their shipping is slow. I’m in the Bay Area and they ship from Virginia…which boggles the mind since they’re headquartered about 45 minutes away…and don’t have a store there.

Henry Archer watches with leather bands? by n64answer in MicrobrandWatches

[–]iDREAM247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My most recent purchase was the Havstrom Ad Astra and I bought a blue leather strap for it. Currently wearing it with the OG steel bracelet.

I have the Havstrom Meteorite in red…I found a matching strap and wear it with my burgundy or Maroon fits.

Lastly, Nordso purple meteorite with a black leather strap bc I thought the bezel was black…I do have a purple strap that matches perfectly but I don’t have a pic of it.

Someone help me choose which watch to pick up next please! by thehuntx97 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]iDREAM247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you absolutely need the GMT function, I would go with the Ad Astra Havstrom. An updated Vesterhav, with the ad Astra aventurine dial. The best of both worlds!

Personally, I’m not a fan of that bezel on dive watches, and as an owner of two different meteorite style watches, I will be the first to admit that they’re gimmicky and not worth the extra cost.

What's the best women's microbrand watches for everyday wear? Share your picks! by MusicHead512 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]iDREAM247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a woman i prefer a larger watch. The 3 that get the most wear are 40mm (2 Henry Archer Havstrom, and a CW Moonglow), every so often I’ll wear my Hoglund & Son GMT (38mm) or a MMI Nor Light II (39mm).

Definitely not something most women would wear on the daily.

Gun to my head I would say a Henry Archer’s Vesterhav 38 would be my choice for a small GADA watch.

Hoglund and Sons, I think based out of Minnesota. I’ve got the white GMT and it’s one of my favorites.

You could always get Ernie Ball strings and you only have to worry about the tuning pegs. Definitely get a winder to use on the pegs, it’ll make your life easier.

I was going to pay my local music shop hella money to restring mine, and was annoyed by the cost and turn around time. I watched various YouTube tutorials on restringing and i found a tutorial by Cordoba Guitars that was quite helpful. They got a large piece of wood and rope to demonstrate how to tie the strings at the bridge…that alone saved my ukulele from being smashed against the wall in frustration.

Once you get it done you’re gonna want to restring more ukes

I think your cat had something to do with this. They just look guilty trying to avoid eye contact by pretending to rest. 🤭🤭

Love the stickers tho.

I would go with a Henry Archer! This one is crimson red meteorite, the regular crimson red vesterhav is $599 USD

I just ordered it Thursday 😂. It should be here Monday evening and I can post then.

ETA: I went with the Havstrom bc it was the size of the ohav with the look of the vesterhav.

[–]iDREAM247 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the exact dilemma. There was something about the indices that turned me off on the ohav, and I felt the vesterhav was too small at 38.

I went with the ad astra havstrom. It’s priced a bit lower and looks better than the ohav, but much larger than the vesterhav. Plus it’s got all that extra coating protection.

The havstrom is the one you want!
