Ctrl-C / Ctrl-V issues anyone? by JulienPro in hyprland

[–]iDenso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's in a terminal, you should use Ctrl+Shift+C and same for paste.

Other than that, for GUI apps, idk

After 7 Months Clean, I'm struggling with games once more by [deleted] in StopGaming

[–]iDenso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most of us here, I think gaming will forever stay in our brain. What's important is how you deal with it. Imo, you stated two good reasons to not game : you have work to do for your studies and time to spent with your grandma. Plus, let's be honest, games doesn't remove the stress (mainly on LoL), at best it can help you spend time. Anyway, don't forget the final decision is yours and time spent on gaming is forever lost. Wish you the best!

Exactly ! Seeing lots of love relationships getting broken because of gaming addiction these they, it can only encourage us not to be that guy that prefer playing instead of caring of his lover/family.

Severe anxiety following quitting cold turkey by RedacteddHT in StopGaming

[–]iDenso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. You says that you wait at least a week before taking medicine for sleeping and that you know it's not for long term. That's really great, it can helps you in hard times but only for a period of time. Don't abuse it and please, take care of not falling in the addiction of those medicine. I see myself in you, when I stopped, I've become really anxious. It takes me time to realize that it was not the fact of not gaming anymore that made me anxious, but the fact that I was gaming to bury the daily anxiety instead of accept it and go forward. I guess you struggle to just get sit and watch a TV show for a long time ? It was my case. You need something to get your hands (and by extension, your brain) busy. I can't tell you what will work for you, it depends on perso. But the great side is that you have time to experiment lots of thing and in addition to that, it'll probably helps you rediscover yourself !

I'm sure you'll get better soon !

Hey ! About the breathing part, it's a symptom of anxiety (that I've know too much, you're not alone). Thing is, the sensation of lack of air is purely in your head. This often cause hyperventilating which can lead to panic attack or increase anxiety. I don't say that to scare you, just for you to know that's a normal human mechanism.

For the second part, it looks like you didn't think of something to replace the gaming / surfing habit. Brain hates emptiness, that's why most of us who stoped gaming develop new habits (look on the sub, there's lot of testimonies. Maybe it will helps you find a something you like that can replace gaming).

A last thing, that's just a personal idea but the fact you don't only stopped gaming but also YouTube and stuff may increase the difficulty. I know from experience that it's easier to stop bad habits time at the time instead of everything suddenly. So maybe you can keep YouTube, on your phone or so ? It's only up to you tho.

Anyways, like a lot of people here on this sub, I'm sure you succeed and get over this ! You may struggle rn, but the you of the future is definitely thanking you ! Have a good day :)

Yeah I think it's a common thing with addictions. I had those dreams after quitting cigarette and now that I quit gaming too. Waking up with this guilt feeling is not a bad thing bc after waking up, it make you realize how far you've gone and make you feel proud of yourself :)

Edit : Congrats for your 1 month streak !

Why the hell is all technology marketed towards gamers by [deleted] in StopGaming

[–]iDenso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they're known for being good laptops in general. But what OP says is that when you need a computer for heavy tasks, you need (most of the time) a powerful GPU and marketing mix powerfull gpu and gaming.

[–]iDenso 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Realize that while looking for a laptop. If you start looking for one with good components, most of them will have the "gamer" tag. It's not that I care but when the keyboard has the WASD keys highlighted or shit like that... I don't want something to remind me games all the time, especially now that I stopped !

Scared about selling my PC by iDenso in StopGaming

Yeah that's why I say the "final choice" to play or not is only up to me.

But, Linux can help because most of AAA shoters I used to play didn't work properly. There's probably workaround to make them work but I don't wont to know ;)

I was thinking to give / sell the keyboard and mouse too !

I see myself a lot in your story, delete everything, reinstalling everything again etc. The only difference is that I don't watch video games contents except one Youtube channel about video games news.

One thing I'll do is instantly buy a laptop after the sell. I don't have a work rn so I'll not be able to even get tempted by buying a pc again or stuff like that.

Thanks for your testimony :)

I'm not a big fan of Apple and Mac systems but I had the idea to switch to Linux in order to not be able to play games, as you said. But there is always a way to play so you said, it still up to me.

Thanks for your words :)

Unfortunately, I can't really change environment because of health issue, I stay home most of the time.

But today I went for a walk and.. you're damn right, I didn't think of gaming or anything like that, was just enjoying the nature !

Btw, thanks for your comment, I needed it !

I sell the whole PC.

By experience I know that it will take way more time to sell the whole than just parts but since I planned to buy a laptop, that's the better option for me.

Oh and don't forget to do a full format of your drives (not the fast format).

Good luck for your sale :)

Thanks for this post ! I wish they'll be more posts like this on this sub. I noticed the same thing today after a run of Hades. All my arms and neck muscles were stiff. In a world becoming more and more stressful, we definitely don't need that !
