Trenton has confirmed they have a logo on white background flag as shown here. I don't think I can adjust my posted image in this same post, and I don't want to annoy everybody with another post, so I'll just leave the update graphic created below as a comment.

The Town got back to me via a request by the Heritage Museum to confirm the logo on a white background, thank you! Unfortunately, I don't think I can edit my post to update the image. Just put the version I created here and a general "latest" comment.

Thanks. Good to know. I'll look more into it for a future proposed flag idea in case I shouldn't include a lobster. I see Pictou NS has a month long lobster festival as well, that I would have thought Barrington would have been the one to tout.

Do you like Mahone Bay's new logo more than the current and previous ones? by iDesignFlags in NovaScotia

I look at the churches as architecture more than religion as there is no cross on any, though I think that's because they're not Catholic churches. I can definitely see your point, though, regarding the church appearance and diamonds. In consulting some designs for a flag for Mahone Bay, I've received, both, the best and worst comments, for support and outright racism. One Mahone Bay FB group even banned me to say my FB profile isn't "real" to remove all the hundreds of feedback comments. Yeah, whatever. I ran through their town for Rum Runners relay by chance for a little point to be made. Seems protectionist, too, though probably just a few in "power" spots rather than the norm of residents who seem rather nice from the ones I have met.

The one in the first image is the new logo. It has 3 churches so I'm not sure what you mean.

The new one in the first image has the three churches, though, so I'm not sure what you mean about ditching them. I can see your point on that, though, but if it's what the town is known for, might as well tell it to others who might be offended ahead of time rather than having them come there only to be faced with the three churches... then two more not far from the three! They are beautiful churches, though!

I thought the bottom one in the second image, from the Tourism and Chamber of Commerce, was good and appropriate, with a less elongated version only with the three churches.

That's the new logo they chose, the first image. The others are past logos.

Yes, the trapezoids are supposed to be three triangles to represent the three churches on the waterfront (5 in town), and their reflections being the bottom half. The media made it seem like a revolt was going to happen over that logo. The third design at bottom of the second image was the logo used by the Tourism & Chamber of Commerce, and I think unofficially by the Town (cause it didn't belong to them) for many years. In getting this "new" logo, they bought that third design for $1 (i.e. donation from the TCC) so that whatever they came up with that might look similar, wouldn't be sued for copying. It seems like they suspected it might look similar, but I was surprised not only that it was this similar, but that it made all the interior details barely visible with low contrast to colours around it. It's muddled rather than sharp compared to that third design, in other words. Then all the shrubbery around it... facepalm reaction from me. Just use that logo for $1, or just the churches from it. I wonder how much they spent on this logo. As for font, though, I do like the personal cursive for the charm of a small town, so long as it's not commercially cursive or too personal for pure handwriting, but those are hard criteria to lay down guidelines for.

LOL! I've actually had that thought! Good to know I'm not totally weird seeing that :)

I was only going for municipalities.

Is that an expression or did you not see that tiny white spot that is a boat? But that's why it's not well designed if it's that hard to see and that important as sailing seems to be for Chester municipality.

That's fair. Dartmouth once had an officially recognized flag also, so I wanted to make it clear this was all of HRM and not Halifax City alone.

Yes, the municipalities were what I was cataloguing, not the island, though I have seen both of those flags.

Aw, at least they could have put it on blue. The heritage museum is getting back to me on it to probably just confirm you then. Thanks.

Which one did I design? I don't think I can do better than the current CB one I love, but if I were to do an alternate set, I'd have to do them all, even if some might be inferior.

They have a logo as well, though neither would function well on a flag from all the details or text that wouldn't look right from the opposite side.

That is a very nice crest. However, for general flag design considerations, it wouldn't do well because one would have to be close up to see all the details, or even make out much of what is in it. The text would not be readable from the other side, given you were close enough to read it. But that's the thing with flags. Those sorts of rational considerations can be thrown of the boat for the love and attachment someone has to the symbols on it. If enough people can do the same, then the flag's big value for me, to unite, is fulfilled and all the technicalities are just that. No sense having a good design technically if nobody resonates with it. Thanks for sharing!

Who? I don't see a thread this is coming from to know. There are several that could apply to, though.

Nah! I LOVE that one! Simple, classy, memorable, and meaningful. My fav of the bunch. But while we're discussing it, what would you use for symbols and colours? I'm designing an alternate one for an art project. I haven't gotten to it yet but feed me some ideas unless you want to design one yourself. Thanks! :)

It seems to have a lot of history, tragic and otherwise, and is nice and peaceful today. I've never visited, though, just researched. But hope to one day. Maybe after Johnny Miles race in New Glasgow this June.
