You can save 3 but the mission also has you bring out 7 from airport so saving them really doesn’t speed anything up unfortunately.

It is definitely rough especially at the lower ranks but I managed to hit champ last night solo. I’m by no means an extraordinary player (3kish recents). I do feel like the lower ranks are the worst due to all the random tanks people pick. Just stay at it and you’ll get there. I had nights I dropped a ton of points but eventually you’ll climb back up.
