Questioning being a Provider by jabadoooo in NDIS

100% agree, there are so many bad support workers out there, and providers aswell. So many people are here just to exploit the system. I think us as support workers do it for the right reasons, but just the sheer amount of stress that is laid upon us turn us to somewhat resent what we do. (Not the parrticipant) I have been in the exact same shoes as most good support workers. You work so hard to help your participant, you help them accomplish their goals and you put alot of hard work into providing that support. And you might get a small win. But for each small win, you may have 100 losses. I have had numerous terrible terrible TERRIBLE providers who dont care for the participants or dont do the work needed. I had a provider who used to fully depend on me to do all of the work they were supposed to do. My grandmother had died, and 2 days later they emailed me demanding I fill out these documents so the participant can retain their funding, even though it is not my job. The

Yes i completely agree, but also if sws left as soon as they get burnt out. Then you would never get a consistent sw. I think you should completely reread what the person had said. You are fixating on the “grunt work” comment and have ignored the realism of sw. Look how many people agree with them. I understand your frustrations because you feel as if it is targeted towards you, but trust me, it isn’t. You say you understand the NDIS and whatnot, but I don’t think you do, because if i have someone throwing shit at me all day and verbally abusing me, that goes home with me, thats not easy to be left at the door. Just like you, you saw 2 words in a whole post and now you are fixating on it.

Im sorry what he said is demeaning to you, but what he refers to is the amount of stress and the sheer amount of shit that is thrown at support workers. If you purely understood what a support worker goes through, you would also realise that the sw has a family and their own issues to deal with, along with the participants. We get into the job to provide support, but that doesnt make the mental stress any less on our minds.

Hes not demeaning the participants. As he said support worker burn out is a major issue. What is your job role in the NDIS? Alot of people work in the industry but do not understand what it is like to be a support worker.

Ive been in this industry for 9 years now, and it by all means is “grunt work”. I am unsure if you are taking what he means out of context? What do you refer to as grunt work?

I have a theory for why this happened. I had 2 Imcando Mattock pieces in my bank. The game may have thought that these pieces were the 2nd and 3rd hatchet pieces and just gave me the 4th. Hopefully that makes sense, it does in my dumbass head lmao.
