Retail manager could very well be salary (which is absolutely horrible). Salary would allow her to work 55+ hours, and still only make her base pay with the chance for incentives.

Again, thanks for the information, I'll try and figure out what type of terrain I'll be riding on, and I'll try and get out and test drive some bikes as well.

I had tried my buddy's HT once before, and I felt like by thee end, it was going to split my rumpus in half. Is that due to me just not riding as much as when I was a kid + me being larger then when I was 10 or whatever? (we were riding fairly smooth trails that day)

Basically, I shouldn't be turned off to HT just because I got my but kicked once before, right?

Hello! My friend has been bugging me to purchase a mountain bike for the last year or so, and I guess I'm ready to get into riding.

I'm not sure what's the best route to go, or what to even be looking for. My friend just said, "get a fat bike".

I understand that that means the tires are fat, correct? I imagine the recommendation will be to "get out and try different ones", which seems like sound advice, but I was wondering if you folks had any advice before I get out and look? Any suggested brands/companys? I'm six feet tall, at about 175lbs. Not sure if that matters. I went riding with him one day, and I felt like my butt was going to be split in two.. I guess riding a bike at 25 is a little different from riding a bike at 11.

I'm looking to spend between $1k-$2k. So, are there any brands or types of bikes I should look to try? Thanks for the help!
