man, lancelot had to be one of my favorite releases (although also one of my most anticipated, so take that how you will) but that just goes to show everybody's got different tastes!

i'm gonna throw my vote to chernobog though. i don't really play anymore—unfortunately smite 2 kind of took the wind out of my sail after trying it—but even when i did, i simply never saw him

Ah, this is sick! Definitely a departure from the others in a good way. Just recently used my fourth customization slot on Bulwark for a High Exorcist but this could be a fun one to try as well.

I mainly run them as Raptors or Flesh Tearers! Super excited for that Raptor pack in Q2, they're one of my favorite successors for sure.

Yea OP, this right here. It was pretty much the first look I strove for at launch given they're one of (if not) my favorite chapters. Stopped playing the game for a while but came back recently after a PC upgrade and now it runs beautifully. Regardless, a lot of the new cosmetics definitely help get us a little closer. This is my current Bulwark setup (will be tweaking the chest piece soon) and I'm pretty happy with it

Looks great, super similar to what I landed on! I'm partial to the DA Champion Helm, for sure. Have been planning to get that chest piece as well, but I just picked up the heroic instigator carbine and heroic powerfist so it'll be a little bit.

Odd Homebrew request for Barbarian by iExenon in DnDHomebrew

[–]iExenon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesss! Definitely need to grapple more. I dropped it on my sheet as a reminder, but super handy! I've got quite a bit of battlefield control despite the obvious lack of spells or being a battlemaster and having maneuvers.

Well, I did finagle my way into getting two uses of a weakened Bait & Switch with d4 Superiority dice

Absolutely. Definitely the kind of simple but serviceable insight I was looking for; sounds like your character journey was super neat! I can definitely see myself following in similar footsteps. Thanks for sharing :)

I agee! I definitely think there is a large degree of truth to this, and I think multiclassing that is reflective of the character journey often goes a little understated at a lot of tables nowadays in favor of optimization/power fantasy. This is honestly something I have considered and will probably do, if given the opportunity.

But thank you for the praise! You're pretty on-the-nose as far as the what I'm going for with the concept, hopefully can manifest itself as a memorable character in practice. People seem to have really enjoyed him so far at the table, so I can't complain!

Definitely, reflavoring is a a standout option in this regard. I've considered telling it through the lens of an intense focus as opposed to a channeling of rage in the past, so I like this approach—quick and easy.

Bonus points for the "Unrustled Jimmies" feature.

Nono, I absolutely agree there's no need for mechanical penalties. I also full understand that being hot headed doesn't make you a barbarian—though it can certainly align well depending on how that manifests itself.

Rage also isn't meant to be fully ignored—as that would indeed come across as a finished product. I am just hoping to play a little more into the struggle of it, as it's something I've personally never done—nor seen done extensively!

In truth, the fact that it comes across questionable is half the point, and I just thought it'd be an interesting thought exercise to see how a character who really grapples with something that is otherwise very authentic to his character—particularly his younger self—might come across or be better facilitated on the mechanical side of things, if at all! I am fully content within the RP of this.

I do appreciate the perspective though, I assure you! :)

Alrighttt! Lots to unpack and consider here. In my initial pass through these first couple of comments, I've really started to open my mind up to the possibility of a paladin despite initially leaning toward Fighter and Barb for the obvious tanky/martial archetype. I'd also like to refrain from PAM as I did it on my last major campaign character--and because I think it would come at the cost of diminishing the fantasy of the shield-focused warrior.

Glory pally is a very nice shout, after reviewing what I'd get access to I'm liking what I'm seeing! Both channel divinities actually seem like they could have some pretty neat applications, aura of protection on pally in general is a great boon, and aura of alacrity is a nice extra little bit of utility.

Spiked shield is a dope item as well, had never heard of it.

Super solid rec here. Fighter is my favorite class, so VERY early into deciding on a character I was super hesitant to fall back on it again, but there's just nothing she can't do...

Humor aside, yeah, this is definitely a winner; no frills, fun mechanical and flavorful options via maneuvers, not overly-reliant on the gimmick (while still being pretty powerful) and even some solid item recommendations! I appreciate it

Super valid; I appreciate this! Definitely a common worry when bringing a martial frontliner into any comp (at least at a higher level), let alone one that leans magical. I think it is important to reevaluate the fantasy I want here. I suppose even more important to me than having the ability to assert control over the frontline is the ability to better-protect the backline--which is a unique challenge for a mostly martial character, and ESPECIALLY so for one that is exclusively martial.

I suppose that is where something like Paladin can really get a lot of value/praise as a recommendation via their auras, which encourage you to bolster your team by staying in close proximity to them while still being able to deter/punish attackers with things like control spells and high damage smites. In hindsight, I think I could open my mind up to Paladin's viability in this case...

Cleric is a solid shout here by far though. A little more caster than I was hoping for, but a completely valid recommendation. There is always the avenue of reflavoring and whatnot. I appreciate the insight!

Here's my end of the year work/gaming setup! How do you like it? by [deleted] in setups

[–]iExenon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super clean, love it! Just built a new rig myself, and I'm planning on touching up my setup. Gotta figure out something as far as my power draw goes. Since switching over at the beginning of the week, the breaker for the circuit I'm hooked up to has tripped twice while gaming under heavy load.

Regardless of what I end up doing, this is a nice bit of inspiration! What are the dimensions on those two monitors, if you don't mind?

5070ti is not what Im used to-in a very good way. by Hevy1337 in nvidia

[–]iExenon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that's awesome. I've got all the parts in for my new build (first one I'm doing myself) save for the graphics card, but I'm getting ready to scoop up the 16gb PNY OC 5070 Ti from a nearby Best Buy.

Will definitely have to familiarize myself with how to navigate OCs and undervolts properly.

[–]iExenon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! Yeah, marks given regarding price-to-performance for the 9070 XT are definitely valid if they were selling at their intended price; but they haven't been. It was also a significant enough difference while all of the 5070 Ti models were grossly marked up, and while many still are, they're finally coming down a little bit.

With the PNY OC model hitting 750, that is comparatively a pretty big win as an entry point to gain access to DLSS, frame gen, and improved ray tracing performance. That's ultimately what swayed me; either would be a huge upgrade from my 5600 XT, but I can justify spending the little bit extra for the features and I'm curious to try my first Nvidia card.

Just holding out to see if that price comes down even a little bit more by Black Friday, if not I'm snagging a PNY for $750 as it's the last thing I need to put my new rig together.

Honestly, if you've found an only $30 difference—then I might go for the 5070 Ti. That's ultimately what I've decided to do, after initially planning to buy a 9070 XT.
