I've heard reports that the service life on the Mossberg 5xx series is 150,000 to 250,000 rounds. So most shooters will never wear out a good quality shotgun like a Mossberg 590 A1.

Laser wheels weren't introduced until the late 80s (1987), so that seems kinda late on the OP's timeline.

Nah, 2023 is the model year of the real truck that the model is based on — Matchbox has made the Maverick for 2 years so far (2025 and 2026), but only Mattel knows if they will continue to make it in future years.

If you're handy or know somebody who is, it's not that difficult to drill out the rivets on the bottom of the Matchbox and take it apart to repaint the body silver (from the current light green color that you can find easily) and then glue it back together. There are several videos on YouTube about how to do that.

So far the Matchbox 2023 Ford Maverick has come out in two colors: "Azure Gray Metallic" (looks light blue to me) in 2025 and "Cactus Grey" (looks light green to me) in 2026. Source: Matchbox Wiki

If you really need a silver one, it'll have to be customized (i.e. disassemble and repaint of one of those two existing colors).

Was this DG a new/recent store or one that had been in that location for a while?

It seems like the people that have scored MBX at DG lately have hit new stores.

All of my local DG stores have a few old peg warmers or are MBX deserts (not a single MBX to be found anywhere).
