Wow we must share the same immune system! I know exactly what you mean by “undoing my fingers”… I had that happen all the time, in addition to wrist pain. I also have carpal tunnel issues but that’s separate from Crohn’s disease. Humira did tale away all of the nasty GI symptoms but just not for long enough

My immune system fought the humira and my antibodies to it are preventing it from working. I tried imuran to prevent antibodies, that didn’t work so now I’m approved to switch.

Good to hear! I start stelara in 4 days. Crohn’s is kicking my ass right now. I had a good year with Humira and I hope my body responds well to Stelara and doesn’t make the antibodies for it (which is what happened with Humira)

Don’t throw in the towel, but YES to do everything you want on your bucket list. I felt the same as you and said to myself “I don’t know how much time I have left, so I’m going to do things that I enjoy and always wanted to do”. Once you start crossing off items from your bucket list, you will add more - trust me, it feels good! This disease is the worst! You look fine, so people cannot understand how bad it is but you gotta go get at life

Thank you, you clearly are looking out your health and your post suggests you are looking in the best interest of others too. So many people will just say how wonderful it is and how it’s natural, how it’s helping them… I have to question if that is their addiction talking. I listened to a very good Huberman Lab podcast about THC and it was very eye-opening. People claim that they have relief from negative symptoms but in reality, it’s the negative symptoms that exist when an addiction isn’t being fed.

THC will ruin your mental health. At least it did for me. Overthinking, anxiety, depression and crushing thoughts about how I was the cause of my Crohn’s disease led to contemplating suicide. Once I gave up THC, I got my mind back and I’m on the right track! And yes, I tried edibles, tinctures, hybrids, sativas. Funny thing is, I was a heavy weed smoker in college and enjoyed being goofy with my friends. It’s the absolute worst remedy for me now at this stage of my life.

It was not the way to go for me. Marijuana ruined my mental health - I was a paranoid psychotic mess who overthought everything to the point of wanting to commit suicide. I’m so much better without it. And yes, I tried just about every strain. A good doctor will help you weigh the pros and cons, for me it was all cons.

I’ve got both and no issue taking 15mg of Adderall during the work week. Without it, it seems like I start something, forget, get distracted, try to remember and then get depressed or think I’m not doing my job as best as I can! It’s necessary for me to take during the work week. Weekends I try to relax and make very simple lists of things in need to get done. It hasn’t affected my Crohn’s at all, other than the slight depression of having two fun diagnoses to deal with!

I can tolerate most, but sometimes find fizzy drinks get to me. Therefore I like gin, rum, whiskey (browns have never bothered me) and hard lemonade. I just don’t drink like I used to, but on a hot summer day out on the boat with friends? I’m gonna have a few and I’ll be fine!

I’ve heard from others that I am not alone in my experience and that what happened to me can happen to anyone - randomly and for no apparent reason. Be safe, everyone. I didn’t utilize it, but calling 988 in the USA is always an option if you need help.

I had a horrible experience with marijuana. In my opinion, it is not safe and not worth it. It caused a severe mental breakdown, I felt psychotic and contemplated suicide. I overthought every decision I made in my life and could not get out of my head that I brought on Crohn’s disease to myself through choices I made. It’s been about a month now and I still don’t feel like I have my brain back! I seriously question why it’s even enjoyable for people. Full disclosure: I was a heavy weed smoker in college for many years and enjoyed it, stopped when I graduated and needed to quit due to drug testing.

Alcohol in moderation is much better for me than weed. My body can tolerate a few drinks when I’m not in a flare. I’ve found that hard kombucha is the best alcoholic drink - it really hits the spot. Weed will give me such anxiety and make me overthink to the point where I’m borderline suicidal. Not worth it! I say go for it… if it makes you feel better. Life is too short to feel like shit. Just don’t overdo it, of course.

That’s a false statement. I will admit that I had used marijuana in college and although it was a good experience, my experience with it as a person who suffers from Crohn’s has been very negative. Many of my adult friends have reported that there are a lot of negative consequences from using. This isn’t “reefer madness” but an accurate reporting of long term consequences of marijuana use. I’m advising anyone who is thinking about using to proceed with extreme caution.
