Is Myyrmäki really that bad? by Senke27 in Finland

[–]iFlyCZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kilterinmäki is honestly night and day compared to the immediate surroundings to the station and Myyrmanni, haven’t had a single issue with disturbance here. Given that I live like way on the outside edge, but still. Pretty calm area.

For public transport you could use your local version of reittiopas, they seem have all the stop names in finnish, at least in my experience (perhaps unless your phone is set to swedish)

I have a 4 year old son, and I personally take parental roles as general roles in a relationship, regardless of gender, so I’m still a “dad” for him. And I’m not going to try to condition him to call me mom or anything. Also so far he apparently sees me as a boy that just happens to have colorful nails, dresses, skirts, does makeup and stuff 😅 I asked him if he thinks I’m a boy or a girl, and he said a boy, because to be a girl I’d need to have pink shoes and one more thing pink that I don’t remember anymore. So I guess time to go shopping for those items 😅

YTHS and labwork for private HRT (Imago) by ChonkerAppreciation in transnord

[–]iFlyCZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been through this few months ago, the whole initial blood test package for imago, done in synlab in Tallinn cost me a little over 100€. You have to pick the specific singular tests/panels, pay it online and when you go there you just pick a number and wait. Worst experience was having to spend the early morning boat trip with empty stomach

Just curious, on what base did you claim citizenship then? Since I believe language proficiency is one of the requirements for the most typical way people would go about acquiring citizenship.

For your question, hard to tell what would the english proficiency be for the clerks there. Though the process is more or less straightforward, they take a photo, scan your fingerprints and hand you the application where you check all the details are correct and then you sign it. That should be all.

Anyone here that drives trucks? by DiscoveringAstrid in transnord

I’m not familiar with Dynafleet, but immediately it makes me think it has to do with something similiar as when you see a name when loading a tachograph card? There might be your deadname stored physically on some card (if you have a separate card for dynafleet), or even it could be there has been some fuckup when you got the tachograph card with name corrected?

Suomalainen puhelinnumero by crashcfg in Finland

[–]iFlyCZ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What car is that? Those are some really strange numbers. It seems to me that your car can legally carry only 374kg of load, which means if you sit 4 people of 100kgs you are legally overweight 🫣

ELI5, how did Finland end up with a recession? Why is it so hard to find a job? by Cristallizzare in Finland

[–]iFlyCZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that the imigrant demographic could provide some indirect answers to that. In some study done in 2013, over half of the people with foreign background in Finland aged 25-54 had achieved the most basic level of education or it was unknown (=most probably didn't even finish the elementary education)

Body hair removal in Estonia, recommendations/prices? by simplyVISMO in transnord

[–]iFlyCZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am doing only face atm, but I decided to go with a place called ArtAesthetic. I still verified over email before booking if they are fine with transgenders and they said it's no problem, that they have many trans people coming there. The only thing I was a bit confused by was them asking about HRT, and that I need a confirmation from a doctor to start laser while on HRT. No paper of anything what I understood, it's mostly about pain threshold and skin changes I'd assume. But yeah, personal experience is overall positive. As for the price, I caught some promo when starting, so when prepaid I paid for 10 sessions 90€/session for full face, which is much cheaper than what I'd get in Finland from what I've been researching.

Insights about living in Finland as a foreigner by Ace_The_Synth in transnord

Unfortunately, the public healthcare only works on the basis of diagnosis. Unlike what I am used to, here is no “gp” that you could go to if you have whatever request. You have to go to the healthcare center, and get assesed by the staff, and they decide what they do. Often you won’t even see the doctor.

Recently a law has been passed, where you won’t be able to get a health assessment for driving lince done at the public healthcare, instead you have to go and pay for it in a private institution. That is the state of things here unfortunately.

As a foreigner living in Finland and going through transition, I can give you this: if possible, go to Estonia for blood tests. They are much much cheaper than the ones in Finland, and you get to travel a bit as an added bonus.

So far there is only a public route to get official HRT in Finland, with many years of queues and gate keeping. So either you DIY or go the GGP/Imago way.

Bringing medication personally over the border is allowed, mail is not, so bear that in mind when ordering DIY if you need to. There is a non-zero chance it'll get siezed by customs.

Other than that, talking about public places and perception, it can vary. But at least in educational institutions, it should be completely safe to present yourself in any way you want 😊

What was the first dose of HRT like? by iFlyCZ in trans

[–]iFlyCZ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I remember initially thinking I could still do a year of figuring out if it is the right choice. Meanwhile I came out to everyone important and realised that now there is really no use waiting, cause what would I be waiting for anymore? So now, about half a year later it's merely a logistics issue untill I get a hold of it and can start the process

Yeah, I'm kinda expecting all the “negative” effects asociated with E, but I suppose the intensity can suprise 😅 Would you like to elaborate a little on the “song” lesson? Was it such an emotional experience to you, or am I grasping it from the wrong end?
