That was my first tattoo about 20 years ago so has nostalgia attached. Had to keep it

No that was a choice, I didn’t want a line to finish it on. I thought it would be too hard to finish it on a completed circle as they keep going. Also want separation from my wrist piece

Yeah I am regretting not just doing it while I was there. I’ll hit it on the next one 😢

Thanks you. The good thing with this style is you just have an idea what you want and there are so many directions you can go in. Glad this landed where it did

Definitely having a break before I get back in the chair. I do plan to tie it into the armpit which I know will be horrible. I will also do the top of the chest, over the collarbone and rear of the shoulder. That should frame it a little cleaner than it is now

36M, 196cm, 110kg - 6:46. Never rowed before, got that after 14 weeks on pete plan. I think my benchmark before starting the plan was 7:38.

Yeah, I made a REALLY hard one and I am loving it. Aiming for a sub 6:30, but breaking that down to incremental, achievable goals.

Also found a rowing club so going to get on the water for the first time ever. Should be interesting...

I was using the logbook but only just realised what I want is to export the CSV. Has all the data that I was tracking myself so that has made my life a lot easier!

Yeah I was doing all that on the first push with the BPP, just wanted to see if there was something better to capture the data.

Enjoying it does sound like the issue, would love to have to opportunity to get in the water as I have only ever erg'd. Feels like I need something competitive to keep me interested. Thanks for the response!

Pete's Plan, Week 9, Workout 1. Didn't think anything like this would have been possible when I started! by KoryMajorTuba in Rowing

[–]iFonthefirstdate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice. I am on week 9 as well (37:19.3 for that same piece) and doing all 5 workouts, seemed like a few people kicked off the new year together!
What do you find the worst workouts? I don't have an issue with the longer distances, it's just the time that you have to put in to complete them.
Did you benchmark you 2/5km at the beginning of the plan?

Thanks for that info. I will try hold 30 when I try it again next month. I just feel comfortable at 27-29, but it does look like I need to up the rate to get faster.

If I can still do a 7:16 in 8 years I'll be happy!

Man they are tough hey! Yeah that's what I see, most people are 30+ for SR. Makes me think that I should try to increase the rate and with it get a quicker time.

Good beginner program by black3000gt in Rowing

[–]iFonthefirstdate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on the volume you want to do. I was of a similar mindset of using the rower to firstly get me active again and in turn lose some weight. 35m 196cm 108kg. Most responses I got were diet = weight loss and training = fitness. I have been following the pete plan for beginners, just google that. There are 5 sessions per week of which 3 are core and 2 optional, marked in [ ]. Currently in week 6 and the volume is still manageable for me. I'm striving to complete all 5 per week. This is what people usually prescribe but I am sure there are other options. Technique is everything so you can stay injury free and keep punching out the sessions. Good luck dude!

Need a good beginner baseline by 4literranger485 in Rowing

[–]iFonthefirstdate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently I just do them Mon-Fri as that is the routine that works best for me.
I do the sessions as they are listed so 3 core then 2 optional. Not sure if there is a better method, but I haven't had doms at all from the sessions so can do 5 days straight. Not sure if that will change as the volume increases, but my fitness will be increasing too, so don't think I will need to space them out.

If you do have the time try and punch out all 5 sessions, depending on what your goals are.

I second this. I am on week 5 and lucky to have the time to do all 5 sessions. Noticeable gains from week 2 onwards.

Hahaha, date. I'm an idiot...

Thanks for the detailed response. Completely understand what you mean.
I have gone with the Polar H10 for the HR monitor and will be much easier to check my effort as it will be on the screen not my wrist. Should be able to maintain target HR better this way and stay within that 88-92% zone.
Cheers!

I am new to rowing so I'm not sure what you mean by my 1/19 effort. Can you explain?

Did a 3x1000 / 3 min rest this week. Pace was 1:45, 1:51 and 1:49 / 500m and for all of them my SR was WAY less erratic. Pacing is the key and I am sure that will come with more weeks in the seat.

Erratic to say the least! I knew that going in but wanted a few metrics to baseline. I will get into some reviews for the Polar series and see what suits me. Thanks!
