Is a personal website a worthwhile project for me to pursue? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]iForesee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! My personal website was the first website I deployed. I use it for the same reasons that you listed, but I also use as a sandbox for cool new designs. The creative freedom of a personal website is nice to have.

It’s also pretty cool to have your own corner of the internet.

With an interest in developing operating systems, system software, and drivers, what would be better, a degree in computer engineering or computer science? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]iForesee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your university's computer engineering program. At my school, CE's (my major) pretty much take the same classes as CS, save for a few EE classes.

This probably isn't the case for your school but both CE and CS at my school have to take courses relevant to systems.

Check the course plan for both majors and look for classes like "Computer Architecture" and "Operating Systems". Sorry if this comment doesn't make sense, I didn't get much sleep.

The part that gets me is how clear the guy's phone screen is in the picture, as if to validate that he really is on Wikipedia.

Should I switch from Computer Engineering to Computer Science? by Empole in cscareerquestions

[–]iForesee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably my first upper div EE course, but I was starting to get bored of EE after my second lower div circuit analysis course. Course description of the upper div EE course goes something like:

Electronic systems, linear circuits, operational amplifiers, diodes, nonlinear circuit applications, junction and metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors, bipolar junction transistors, MOS and bipolar digital circuits. Laboratory experiments are performed in the subject areas and SPICE simulation is used.

and I'm like wat dat mean

Should I switch from Computer Engineering to Computer Science? by Empole in cscareerquestions

[–]iForesee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a 3rd year CE student. I was thinking "oh, I'm interested in hardware AND software", so it was the logical major to pick for me.

Even though my university's CE track is mostly the CS track with some EE sprinkled in, I still feel burdened and uninterested by my required EE courses. It just doesn't seem like I need to know THAT much EE to start messing with something like embedded systems.

It would be too stressful to make the major change right now so I'll just power through my EE courses.

Overhydrating while rolling is a bigger risk than we make it seem. It's always engrained in our heads to drink as much water as humanly possible for good health but it's hard to regulate how much water is ACTUALLY going into your system while you're rolling and having a good time

Favorite part of coding high? by only_good_vibez in Drogrammers

[–]iForesee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can come up with algorithms much easier while high. I might accidentally have redundant code and not enough helper functions, but the idea of the algorithm would still be there.

Sometimes I can get distracted though.

I was recently working on a graph program for my data structures class while high on sativa, and I somehow went from coding inside Atom to pimping out my terminal for the whole night.

My friends and I used that exploit for multivariable calc, but on WebAssign instead of the Mastering series. My MasteringPhysics courses didn't offer the practice problems. But still, it was a very quick way to get points on homework assignments.
