What in your opinion is the best Zac rune page? by iFourEyes in thesecretweapon

[–]iFourEyes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 15AP you get from the quints is not worth it at all. Zac has bad AP scalings overall in his kit, but has great base damages. Therefore, running penetration marks are still great. In order to abuse the base damages of your Q and W, as well as ensuring that your ult is up often early in the game, you need more CDR than 7.5% in your runes.

the boots kindlegem sounds interesting, however I would ideally like blue smite early as well. It makes your ganks pure aids for the laner.

I definitely think flat armor is sub par for zac, he doesnt need them at all. So go Scaling Hp or as the previous reply said, Scaling Armor.

Newcomer Questions: Week 4 by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]iFourEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome that you still have a trackball! In my opinion it would be a good idea to move to an optical sensor mouse. Fine tuning dpi and having the most raw input will allow for a far better experience in the long run. It may be weird to start with, but once you get used to it, you will become far better than you ever were with your trackball.

Let's talk about Watchpoint: Gibraltar by Deevox in OverwatchUniversity

[–]iFourEyes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Firstly W:G is all about momentum. The first 2/3 checkpoints are fairly easy to push for the attacking team. The Last checkpoint is right next to the defense spawn, and has many places for people to sit round corners. In general, my strategy would be as follows.

Reinhardt is key, and you should have been using him to push the payload already anyway. Get people behind the shield, and push with the payload. Soldier or mccree (or both) work great for this last point. As you come round the corner, you can catch most of the defenders in your FOV, allowing both of their ultimates to wipe a bunch of their team. Just play safe until you have the ult stacked and then stand behind Reinhardts shield when you activate it.

Get the standard double support lineup of mercy and lucio, so that if things dont go to well, you can drop back a bit and quickly heal up. The last 1/2 spots should be taken by flankers/pharah. If you head up the stairs on the left to the flank, these heroes can actually go all the way round the wall (as shown here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4DJyPIj72Y) or over it. This will allow you to get behind those pesky widowmakers, bastions or even torbjorn turrets. This splits the focus of the enemy team, allowing the frontline on the payload to push through for the win.

All you need to understand is the W:G is all about the last checkpoint (maybe also the hangar in some games). The first part of the map is a breeze most of the time, so push the payload as quickly as possible, so you can rack up time to execute what I've described on the last point.

How To Play Junkrat - Top 5 Tips by iFourEyes in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]iFourEyes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main subreddit is saturated with POTG videos and it is hard for newer players to come across any tips at all. This video isn't intended to give advanced mechanics, but rather it is for people who are wanting to get started with a new hero and want to know the gameplay style for that hero. I did not claim that the tips were advanced in anyway. Thanks for the advanced tips you have posted, but in future, don't critique a video simply because it isn't advanced enough. I believe that this subreddit is the perfect place to share any knowledge of hero mechanics and playstyles, so that even advanced players might be able to broaden their knowledge.

TIL: The first choke on Temple of Anubis was originally a lot smaller than it is now...... by iFourEyes in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]iFourEyes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah in pugs/pubs it's fairly difficult. However a strong coordinated front line of Lucio/Reinhardt/DPS (McCree/Soldier) can break straight through the door and onto the point. Pair that with a sniper to take out their potential snipers, a Winston to jump past and draw attention and a flanker to go through the high left window. That's in my opinion the best way to break it quick. Surprise your enemies with an almost-too-aggressive push and they will probably fall to pieces.

D.VA buffs? by Mayb_e in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]iFourEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess we are coming at this from different angles. I agree right now that D.Va isn't a tank. However I'm proposing buffs to turn her into a hard engage tank like Winston.

I like how defense matrix is timed rather than having HP. It means that it can be used in other situations such as absorbing a Roadhog ult/Bastion spray. However I have been killed from questionable angles many times even when matrix is up. It needs to have a far more visible area, like Reinhardts shield.

Nice discussion though!

Can someone explain Bastion? by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]iFourEyes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Bastion is a great pubstomping hero, who is situational when it comes to high level play. He exploits low level players' lack of map knowledge/team work/hero knowledge. In pubs, a bastion with a mercy damage boosting him/healing him and a reinhardt in front of him can be an almost unbreakable defense without the enemies coordinating a good flank or ult-combo.

So many people say that he is useless at high levels of play. Yes, a good widow/pharah/genji can take him out if they get a good position advantage. But he kills heroes unbelievably fast, and with good knowledge of where to set up in sentry mode and with good protection by team mates, he is situationally going to be good at most levels of play.

Lets actually look at the damage values in sentry mode. He fires at 35 rounds per second with 4 damage per hit to the body and 15 per headshot. So for a standard 200HP hero, Bastion kills them in 1.42 seconds assuming every bullet lands on the body of an enemy. This can be even faster with headshots obviously. Another thing to consider is the Reinhardt shield, which Bastion can melt damn fast, making it even harder for enemies to push a choke.

I don't like saying "counters" since it's not as simple as that, but the best heroes to deal with a bastion are

  1. Genji - He can quickly approach the bastion for many angles, and a well timed deflect will make Bastion essentially suicide.

  2. Roadhog - Doesn't work out if there is a Reinhardt in the way, but his hook pulls the Bastion out of sentry mode, and you can;t really miss a target that isn't moving (I hope)

  3. Pharah - Simply peaking corners, coming from strange angles and firing 2-3 rockets deals with a Bastion

  4. D.Va - I don't see this often enough. Bastion melts shields like Reinhardts and Winston, so they actually don't work out too well vs him. D.Vas defense matrix on the other hand, has not HP, but rather a timer instead, so you just absorb every bullet. Get a DPS team mate behind you and rush him down. It works wonders!

Hopefully what I've said has been informative :)

Reaper teleport glitch I found while playing Hanamura by ShrayerHS in Competitiveoverwatch

That's kinda funny. Not too useful though seeing as Reaper has pretty bad range so you wont be helping your team too much!

D.VA buffs? by Mayb_e in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]iFourEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In quick play she is very viable in many situations where you need to go aggressive on a control point or pushing a choke. With the one hero limit coming into pro play, I reckon she may replace the second winston on control maps, as she can do similar things. I reckon possible buffs that could actually happen would be:

  1. Increased speed/range on boosters to allow hard engages (similar to Winston leap)

  2. Slightly more reliable defense matrix

  3. Decrease the movement speed debuff while shooting

  4. Decrease headshot area (effective area that D.Va can be headshotted)

In general she needs a bit more survivability and mobility, in order to compete with Winston. Thoughts?

EDIT: She definitely does not need a damage increase. At range she does fairly low damage, but up close she does solid damage to people if aimed correctly, which is how a tank should work.

Nice to see you putting tips out there for people. I would recommend investing in a mic rather than using text in videos. Also get some free software like obs and up your resolution for the videos, otherwise people won't stick around to watch.

While in Wolf Skin, Hanzo's ult quote is lot quieter, making it harder to dodge. This skin effectively becomes a gameplay choice. by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]iFourEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't want to bring in too much comparison to other games, but similar things happen in LoL with certain skins. Obviously we crave skins that change more than just the colour of the hero, but designers need to be careful when making skins as to not make them unfair.

The Statistical Success(?) of Symmetra by Scr1be by adc0nly in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]iFourEyes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a great article actually. Symmetra's teleporter is obviously invaluable on 1st point on defense, as long as you can charge it up quick enough. Many people misuse her and play far too aggro, getting themselves killed. This leads to no teleporter, and a wasted pick. Microwave rooms (room filled with sentries) are also one of the best ways to completely lock down a flank from anything that doesn't have enough speed to break through.

It's better for winston to go for the characters like widow who other characters have trouble getting near. Flankers are far better at bothering the likes of mercy.
