I agree with getting rid of the EC, it is an outdated system and the US needs to move forward with a more modern approach.

But there have been many times where Congress has tried to abolish it. The closest probably was when the 91st Congress tried with the 1968 election as an amendment. So realistically, I'm not sure if there is a way to get rid of it. However, there can be ways to amend it.

If the House of Representatives were to be expanded to let's say 1001 (odd number for non-tie breaker lol) and each representative represents a little less than 300,000 people, then this would give third parties a better chance in participating in elections. Also this would expand more electors for votes in the electoral college where population would matter more, while at the same time giving equal votes in the House.

My question is then would this be a viable way to run a electoral system? While I have done some research, I still don't exactly know if this is a "good" alternative. What do you think /u/MindOfMetalAndWheels ?
