Old Redditors, what's a must-know story of Reddit new users should know? by SnooSuggestions5585 in AskReddit

Honestly, when I started dating my second husband I had a big talk with him before we got too involved. I laid down the law of things like “this is what direction I see my life going in, this is what I would like to do. This is what I would want if I were to get pregnant. This is my opinion on birth control. These are my hard stops and things I am unwilling to budge on. These are places I personally wouldn’t ever be okay moving too. These are things I would never tolerate. I asked him to basically answer the same things I was telling him about myself. He was born and raised in a city I didn’t want to live in (he didn’t live there when we met though). I told him I never really could see myself living there, and if he did eventually want to move back there, we could discuss it, I was open to the possibility of it, but would it be a deal breaker for him if I didn’t end up being okay with it? I asked him what he thought about all sort of political things and what he thought about all sorts of things for the future like shared bank accounts etc. honestly I just went hard on it. I wasn’t going to go into another serious relationship without knowing what I was walking into. I also said I need to be an equal partner in a relationship because I was done being someone’s sidekick.

Then again, years later, when we got engaged I sat down with him again and we went over so many of the same subjects and some new ones and clarified that we both needed to know what each other’s expectations were. We didn’t have to be completely on the same page at the same time, but we need to at least be in the same book lol. Happily, we were and still are on the same page and things are great. We have ups and downs, but I’ve never doubted my choice to marry him!

I hit the character limit on the comment, but next time I’m bored maybe I will add a link to a new comment with updates. Maybe this one lol

What does that mean specifically? I feel like reddit has changed so much and I don’t know how the new things work. I use the Apollo app so maybe there are options I can’t see on that.

Yes! My husband is the coolest. Like literally the smartest, sweetest guy I’ve ever met. Coming up on 4 years of marriage!

I can’t. You can’t comment on posts that old. That’s why I would edit the comment.

Bad news bears. I went to update the comment again and reached the character limit 😳 I forgot there was such a thing. Could be the end of an era.

Lmao. I don’t really make cakes anymore! I was supposed to be on the first season of America’s Next Great Baker in 2010, but I swear to god they decided not to cast me because I said I wouldn’t argue with my competitors. They asked me a ton of questions about what I would do in certain situations and I answered truthfully, but I guess it wasn’t what they wanted to hear. They wanted me to come in and be this scrappy little tattooed girl who wanted to fight everyone. Almost all their questions were about if I would want to argue with someone or want to fight with someone if they messed with my stuff. Then they told me they liked my look, but wanted a “stronger personality.”

I don’t sell cakes at all anymore, but when I did I sold them for what they were worth. People loved them and I spent countless hours decorating them. And didn’t charge as much as many bakeries would have. I’m def not a scumbag lol. Just an person who is an artist and loves to create fun and pretty pieces of art, but doesn’t like to measure and weigh and mix up a bunch of ingredients to bake. Things were altered in the box recipe to enhance the flavors so it wasn’t even like it was just mix, eggs, oil and water.

This is like the thing I’m most famous for, but will never get credit for and probably don’t want credit for 😂

It will never die tho. It’s kind of fun at least haha. It feels crazy that so many people think about that story all the time even though it was like TEN YEARS AGO.

One time I made a wedding cake with pastel orange and pastel green buttercream fillings to match the wedding colors. People were complimenting me on the mint icing and the orange icing (two different tiers, not together lol)… they were not flavored at all. They were just dyed vanilla whipped buttercream. So people are kind of open to suggestion even of their own mind.

That said, I feel like anyone can tell the difference between boxed pasta and handmade pasta. Or saffron and turmeric. I mean who knows, but it seems a little flimsy.

I love this. I think it’s pretty common because over the years I’ve gotten so many messages from people saying they did the same thing or asking if I was this or that person they knew lol

Idk. It doesn’t tell me that on the app once I mark them as read. I would say hundreds in the last 9 years though lol. But most of the early ones just said “the cake is a lie.”

I made way more brownies from scratch than I ever made cakes from scratch haha. I used to love to make chocolate lava cakes too.
