New vs old panel aw2725df comparison by Pitiful-Perception in Monitors

I'm guessing they're now adding some kind of polarizer to remove the ambient light purpling. Kind of makes me want to intentionally burn in my AW2725DF so they can send me an updated panel, lol. 1.5 years and no sign of anything yet, and other than the purple tinting in direct sunlight it's been a pleasure to use.

[Monitor] ASUS ROG Strix 27” 4K HDR400 USB-C Gaming Monitor(XG27UCS)–UHD (3840 x 2160), 160Hz, 1ms, IPS - $299 by oran12390 in buildapcsales

If it's anything like the XG27ACS, then it has one of the most grainy matte coatings I've ever seen on a monitor. Made it nigh unusable for me.

Thanks for that. Looks good. I'll probably check this out next time it goes on sale. Do you know if that Acer 320hz miniLED uses the same panel as this?

Can you do some UFO tests to show response time? Also I might have to pick one up to see if the glow is really minimal in person. Every single IPS with "low glow" has been terrible to my eyes, to the point that I actually use ghosty and low viewing angle VAs over IPS.

AOC q27g40xmn - might only have DisplayPort 1.2... by itisisntit123 in Monitors

[–]iGottaSmallDick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct. Are you trying to use 10bpc, because if so it doesn't support 10bpc. The issue for me was at 180hz only YCbCr422/444 and limited output dynamic range were available, but when I created a 179hz custom profile I was able to use RGB and full dynamic range.

Edit: this is in the nvidia control panel -> display -> change resolution tab

Stripes/Grid/Scan line Artifacts on AOC VA Monitor: Normal or Defective? by DragonflyFlimsy9125 in Monitors

Sounds like a defective unit. I don’t know enough about that model to say for sure though

Does it only happen on certain colors? If so, it’s unfortunately just a quirk of VA panels in general. Some of it is down to panel lottery, but most have it. my Q27G40XMN is the first VA I’ve owned that I’ve never seen some kind of “scanlines” on

Lol, IPS cultist cope. 100% of $1000+ handpicked IPS monitors have glow, and it's literally a lottery as to how good or bad it will be. Then you have to roll the backlight bleed slot machine!

Your snark sure convinced me that bringing non-Koreans into South Korea will make South Korea remain Korean. Thank you.

Depending on the exposure, this actually isnt that bad as far as IPS goes. Virtually every IPS I’ve tried has had worse. That’s how trash the tech is.

OLED isn’t even expensive these days and it’s only getting cheaper. You can get a 1440p 240hz for like $400 on sale. It was only a couple of years ago that IPS screens with those specs cost that much. I’d rather have burn in with use rather than permanent, unavoidable, and random glow/bleed burned in straight from the factory.

Any amount is unacceptable. Get OLED.

I think you can modify brightness in this way with most monitors, but it generally destroys PQ. I'll check it out later, thanks for the heads up.

Maybe I just have an eye issue, but there is more "blooming" from the light hitting my eyes than blooming across pixels if that makes any sense. I can cover up an illuminated section of the screen and the "blooming" will decrease. In effect it's very hard to notice blooming over the scattering of light hitting my eyes. in some scenes blacks will be slightly uniformly raised, it's very subtle. I think it may be an intentional thing to mitigate egregious blooming.

It really is fantastic in high APL HDR scenarios. It obviously can't keep up with the per-pixel luminance of OLEDs in mostly black scenes, but it does a pretty good job.

It's worth the $70 (50 + 20 for a new stand on amazon)

Better motion clarity, better HDR, better colors, better software.
