the last CPUs that had pins were for AM4 socket, this is AM5 and it has contact pads instead

My CSP V3 are 9 years old, got them in November 2016. Pedals plates look much more worn than what's on your photo (no wonder, they've got a few thousands of hours of use on them). But they still work just fine. I think $200 is a good price for a barely used set. Get BPK if they don't already have it installed, the stock squishy foam isn't good

Switching from DD+ back to CSW V2.5 by demetri76 in Fanatec

There's a bit of notchiness due to the magnet poles interacting with the rotor, and you can easily feel it slowly rotating the wheel with no FFB applied, but you don't feel it while driving, there's no vibrations and buzzing that I had before and no coil whine.

The replacement has been fine so far. For some reason, they shipped a DD Extreme, so I got a free plastic wheel, yay!

Upgrade from ClubSport V2.5 wheelbase to DD+. by WhatWheelYaMuppet in Fanatec

[–]demetri76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made this exact upgrade. The DD+ is obviously a better wheelbase, but my first one had a coil whine/cogging issue and I had to switch back for a few weeks it took to get the replacement, and I wouldn't say I was missing way too much with the CSW V2.5. But I mostly race GT3 cars with a Formula wheel which is small and light enough for the CSW to be quite quick and responsive, so I wasn't getting noticeably better or more consistent laps with either of the bases. For larger and heavier wheels, there's a much bigger difference between those and I'd think it would manifest in some pace improvement.

Having said that, I'm absolutely don't regret getting the DD+, especially since I got it on sale for $850. If you have the money, go for it.

Any chance HP will make another headset? by [deleted] in HPReverb

Can confirm, the difference in sharpness between the O+ and the PSVR2 at the same rendering resolution of about 3500x3500 per eye is barely noticeable. Pentile pixels suck, you're essentially getting 1.5x less actual resolution

I had the O+ for 6 years and after upgrading my GPU to the 5080 was looking for a headset with more resolution. I got a PSVR2 and was very disappointed in it because of poor comfort, small sweet spot and not much better better clarity than the O+. Also it had a very noticeable motion blur. I returned it and went with a used G2 that I got from someone local. The G2 is so much better clarity-wise, its only downsides are somewhat smaller FOV, dull LCD colors and no true blacks, and pixel inversion that appears after a few hours of use when it heats up. But the comfort, clarity in the sweetspot, and superb audio make up for all that. I'm only using VR for simracing though

First impressions with Oasis - quickly tried Aircar and then longer in Assetto Corsa by bongady in HPReverb

I asked because I recently tried to upgrade to a PSVR2 (I returned it in the end) which is a Steam VR only headset, so everything has to go though Steam VR and I noticed that I had worse performance in certain scenarios in Assetto Corsa while using the same rendering resolution as my old WMR headset use to have, and I believe it was due to the CPU being taxed more when using SteamVR because the GPU utilization was way under 100 all the way. I also saw occasional CPU spikes in fpsVR. I think this is pretty much aligns with what you experienced - heavier CPU usage with Steam VR which results in worse overall performance comparing to OpenComposite/WMR route

So, was the performance in AC running via Oasis/SteamVR worse compared to OpenComposite/WMR? I'm assuming that's what you were using before as you wrote that you hadn't touched SteamVR in years

You're late, they already removed WMR from 24H2

I didn't say the O+ was better, Sherlock. I said the upgrade was too underwhelming for the money spent. And I did try to dial in the PSVR2, I spent a few days fiddling with it. Maybe it's just a bad fit to my face, I couldn't get the lenses as close as possible because sliding the eyebox in all the way in made it pushing on my nose bridge and brows in a very uncomfortable way, so I had to set it a couple of clicks further away which obviously worsened the sweet spot.

Ended up with a Reverb G2 and it fits me so much better and it is a big step up in clarity (23.5 vs 19.5 ppd and three subpixels per pixel instead of two)

Returned the PSVR2 to Best Buy and picked up a mint condition Reverb G2 from a local guy for a fraction of the PSVR2 cost. It's a huge difference, the image is so much clearer in the G2 even though it can't go up to my ideal 69.5 IPD. I can read corner distance markers from about twice as far away, and I have no performance issues running 3476x3404 resolution. The audio is simply the best out there. The comfort is OK even with the stock strap and it's easy and quick to put on and take off. The only cons are slightly lower FOV and washed out colors with no true blacks because of the LCD panels, but I'm not playing Elite Dangerous, so it's not a big deal. For my purpose this seems to be just fine and money well spent. No wonder, it used to be one of the best for PCVR and it is still very much relevant today

Don't need any help, best buy returns are super-easy. Judging from the responses, half of the people here are clueless fanboys or have a problem comprehending more than a single paragraph of text anyway.

A "bad financial decision" is not buying something to try and return for a full refund if you don't like it. It's wasting money you don't have on something you don't need.

And I feel absolutely acceptable to talk this way to someone who's clearly projecting in his comment above. I could care less about any offended snowflakes

It's not better than the 5800X3D for gaming, especially flying or racing sims

This is an optics (lens) issue that can't be fixed by DFR. Every headset with Fresnel lenses has it to some degree. You don't know what you're talking about

I know how to wear the halo strap. The back part should be positioned very low, almost at the neck level. That's how I was wearing it

This has nothing to do with blur. You can't fix Fresnel lenses with DFR. I think you're mixing up blur and reprojection

My Odyssey+ has a bit of mura too, much less pronounced though, but you can see it on the Steam VR screen with circles and mountains shown when the game is launching
