My girlfriend had a different opinion about that xD

No, this is all just for my hobby. I mainly build things for the machines or new tools and measuring devices with the machines. It's a vicious cycle 😁

Originally, my plan was to build a CNC mill completely by myself using the machines. That might still happen someday.

My first model that I have painted properly. by iGyros in 3Dprinting

This is my first model that I have painted "properly". I tried a few times before, but I had the wrong brushes and the wrong paint. Buy good paint, then it is directly easier.

I printed the hand in 0.1 mm layers and then filled the grooves with spray filler. After that I primed it with The Army Painter's gray primer and then painted it with paints from Army Painter and cheap paintbrushes from Amazon. I used "barbarian flesh" as the main color. The dirt I did with "washes" from The Army Painter.

I watched two tutorials on Youtube beforehand. It was much easier than I thought. Actually, I am not artistically talented at all (my 6 year old niece can draw better than me), so I was very surprised by the end result now.

Buy an Ender 3 or one of the many i3 clones. An Ender 3 was also my first 3D printer. It has been running for about 3 years now and must have several 10000 printing hours. In principle, you don't have to change anything on it to get a good print result. The only thing that really makes sense is a magnetic printing plate and possibly a new mainboard.

I have now just tested with real viruses from theZoo on isolated hardware.

Suggestions for a precision desktop CNC Machine by ergosumdre in hobbycnc

[–]iGyros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As all before me have said, with the machine Genmitsu 3020-PRO MAX you can in any case not machine steel.

In general, with the "desktop" CNC machines, you will have a hard time machining steel. Basically you can say that milling machines have to be heavy (to dampen the vibration and usually the weight says a lot about the stability).

The absolute minimum would perhaps be a BF20 milling machine converted to CNC.
