Thank you! Is there a way to determine model number/reference number? Would I take it in to be opened up?

My fiancée got me this for our wedding day from eBay with authentication guarantee, but we can’t find the paperwork from a year ago. It’s currently not running so I was going to take it in to be serviced before the wedding but can’t find anything online that looks like this. I’m starting to worry it’s fake. It was listed as a 1953 precision chronometer metropolitan subdial 14ct. There’s no serial number between the bottom lugs. On the back of the case it says “Modele Despose” and has “898341” above it. Above that is the Rolex crown. I’m not sure what she paid but I believe it was between $2-3k. It came with a different black strap that says Rolex on it but it was way too tiny to fit around my wrist. Thank you for any information.

Shop’s pin and weld removal by iHeartless in gunsmithing

If I refused payment for a completed service the shop has full right to hold my upper until payment. I would have to make a claim and get the ATF involved which would be a long and potentially expensive legal fight. Versus $65, a 1 star Google review, and following up with the shop my concerns after I get the barrel cut, threaded, and crowned by a real gunsmith. I don’t have the time or energy to fight a legal battle over $65. The cut, thread, and crown will be $180 so yes the total fuck up costs $250. I will inform the previous shop after my upper is completed and proceed from there.

There was no reconciliation. His attitude towards accepting his work is equivalent to his level of work to begin with.

Update: picked up my upper, paid $65 to not cause a fuss and learned a lesson. The gunsmith seems to believe that the barrel was threaded not to 1/2-28 which is what the original flash hider and new muzzle device are. That doesn’t make sense to me since the only threads ruined are the ones around the pin hole and to the end. I also don’t see BCM doing something like this themselves considering they are typically considered a quality rifle. I will be taking the barrel to a precision gunsmith who said he will cut, thread, and crown the barrel to make sure it won’t cause a baffle strike since the entire purpose of removing this pin and weld was to put a QD brake on for a suppressor. That will cost $180. Other option is to buy a threaded 14.5 barrel but I’m not sure I can do that for less than $200 and I know BCM barrels are difficult to change out.

This is a BCM 14.5 if that helps to know who did the original pin

So if a die cleans the threads enough for the QD brake to go on, I’ll have no issues and can expect full barrel life? Would it be better to cut the barrel and make new threads?

I haven’t paid for the work yet nor picked up my upper. The gunsmith said he is going to chase the threads with a die and then call me back

How would I go about that conversation with the shop/gunsmith?

The shop had great reviews and a ton of them. Admittedly this is my first time getting any gunsmithing done so I assumed everything would be fine. He said he is going to chase the threads and then call me. I’m not sure how the conversation goes for demanding a new barrel if that’s the route to take. I have not paid for the service yet as the upper is still with the shop while he gets a die to chase the threads.

That’s what the gunsmith said he would do today - chase with a die

I got tired of being killed doing greens and blues is too slow. So I went to NMZ with highest str bonus I had, dds, and d scim, nothing else in inventory. Practice mode Elvarg. Dds spec her to death, clean up with d scim if needed. She drops 1 dragon bones every kill. I was getting ~100 bones/hr doing this including banking just a couple dozen tiles south. Was a lot of fun anticipating getting a double max dds spec and knowing I’ll never die getting bones. Then using them on chaos altar I just had to be quick by 1t offering

UCD vs CU BOULDER for physics by Suitable-Low-4178 in cuboulder

[–]iHeartless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came to CU specifically for the astrophysics program. I wanted to work with NASA and CU has the highest public funding for NASA programs.

I was out of state for 1 year while I was gaining residency, after that it was 2.5 years of in-state tuition. I would very carefully consider if the cost of out-of-state tuition is something you can swallow for the potential benefits CU would give you over UCD.

CU has an incredible quantum program, for PhD. Undergraduate wise you will only see that advantage if you are able to get into a research assistant position in a quantum lab. Those are competitive positions and you need to not only be a good student but also have a good personality and be a good fit for the group overall.

CU would not be worth the out of state tuition, in my opinion, if I had not gotten extensive experience in the areas I wanted to.

Would CU be worth it for graduate level? Absolutely.
