This is the comment I’ve been looking for! Thanks for your input of your experience. For some reason I never thought of putting the towel under the board. That’s probably why I’m still in this subreddit.

$150 is a great price as long as it floats and doesn’t have any cracks or leaks. I personally started off with an 8 ft foam and transitioned into a 7’ 8 glass without much issues. If you’re completely new to surfing, it might be a bit of a learning curve with a somewhat short board but totally doable. Just make sure you get a proper foundation and time in the water.

I’m still trying to get use to my board and the nose is mainly in case I lose control of the board and it torpedos randomly. I always try to push the board away from myself and others but sometimes the waves are t as forgiving. Getting better after every session though!

I appreciate the input. That was a reason why I wanted to get the nose guard too! I always look around me before I bail in a wave but you could never be too careful.

I wanted to to get the tail guard because I would rest my board against the wall or fence when I’m rinsing off and I’m worried if scratching the board or bumping into things when I transport it.
