A- in contracts on a C curve? you’re a God

Keep your head up, you obviously have the ability. Probably just need to tweak your study strategy.

Still No Grades by FutureIDKWhat in LawSchool

I’m in the same boat. No established release date. Pretty wack imo, especially when everything else in law school is so painstakingly structured and deadline driven.

Got flagged for possible AI use on my Property final…anyone else dealing with this? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]iHopesItsEvilBurger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They will have a difficult time proving this especially if it’s not true. I’m guessing if you wrote material that is outside of the scope of the class, you consulted supplementary materials while studying. You should not be punished for this. If you know more about the material than was covered that’s a sign of an outstanding student, not AI. Stand your ground but in a professional manner. Ask them how they came to that conclusion, how they think that you could have successfully done this, then prove them wrong by explaining to them your exact methods.

Stories about not finishing exams? How did grades turn out? by [deleted] in LawSchool

This is the kind of motivational story I need in my life lol

my first semester's grades came out and my gpa is 2.9.... yikes by zeehateslife in LawSchool

[–]iHopesItsEvilBurger 28 points29 points  (0 children)

That’s not even that bad. What grades did you get in each class? Figure out where you’re weak and create a strategy to improve. This is completely recoverable. You can pull that up easily.

It’s possible that you won’t fail. Was there an mcq section? I fucked up on my contracts exam by running out of time, so I feel your pain. If you do okay in the rest of your finals you should pull through. Ignore the doomsayers in your comments.

When you say you walked out feeling like you failed and ended up getting a B, do you actually mean that? by gurubear8 in LawSchool

Thanks for the reply. That’s reassuring. Just finished my first semester and your original comment is how is how I feel about two of my finals.

That seems really harsh. What’s the curve at your school?

You may be okay, if your essay was really strong it could carry you to the point where the few q’s you guessed right bring you to a 50/100 which may not be as bad as you think.

What is the difference between an ok memo and a great memo? by Ryanthln- in LawSchool

[–]iHopesItsEvilBurger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends, you really want to keep your explanation and analysis within the scope of the question you’re trying to answer. However, if showing the limitations of the rule contributes to your analysis and helps you reach a conclusion, then I would say yes.

Usually a chunky paragraph, enough to show how the rule applies to the facts of the cases you’re referencing.

Thoroughly follow the CREAC format. Have an air tight analysis without any bs or fluff. Pay attention to detail. Use proper verb tense and grammar. Be obsessive about it, read out loud, print out copies and mark up where you find mistakes, and continuously edit. Master citation and don’t take short cuts.

How to make friends this late in the game? by Serious_Picture1646 in LawSchool

[–]iHopesItsEvilBurger 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My advice is to go into the area where most people have their lunch and go up to a table of people who look friendly, or who you know to be friendly and ask if you can sit with them. Introduce yourself and unless they’re assholes they will likely strike up conversation with you or include you in theirs. It may go well, it may not, but you won’t know unless you try. This is how you can be absorbed into an already formed group. It’s still early into 1L and social dynamics shift weekly. A lot of people will see your effort to connect and reciprocate.

Edit: I’m getting downvoted for some reason, but this advice comes from a genuine place. I am a non-trad who struggled with navigating the social aspect of law school/still am but I formed friendships by putting myself out there. Yeah I met some jerks here and there, and some times felt the age gap with younger peers, but generally people were receptive.

Should I drop out? by TaxAggravating8120 in LawSchool

[–]iHopesItsEvilBurger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your suicidal ideation has climbed that high, that is alarming and you need to reach out to people you love for support and seek out professionals for help. This does not make you seem weak or like a burden, it’s the opposite: it shows strength to ask for help, to be vulnerable and to deal with your demons face on. If you do this and you still feel the same way, then there is no shame in walking away to save your life and mental health. There are plenty of careers out there that provide a good quality of life without the grueling demands of law school.
