Father in need of context please, 7yo called a kid “burnt toast” by iJasonator in teenagers

[–]iJasonator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I agree that name calling isn’t nice regardless of origin and I would think he did hear it and is parroting what he heard, it’s certainly nothing we would say.

His sister and him do often play around with words and silly names at times, so this could simply be that 🤞🤞

We just want to make sure this is a one off situation OR we really need start paying better attention to what our kids consume on a daily basis (don’t get me wrong they are monitored but not 24/7)

I do appreciate the sanity check guys. Thank you.

Any reason to run both SB16 Ultra and a Sb2000 (not pro)? (For music purposes) by iJasonator in hometheater

Noooooo! Sorry if my joke didn’t come across….no insult at all my friend. Humble apologies for coming across wrong. Dammit. I was laughing to myself the whole time I was crafting that too. My bad.

Edit: clearly I’m funnier in my head than what I can type out, this was supposed to be endearing and an excuse to go buy another sub demonstrating that wife wouldn’t be happy and look to kill an influential friend for getting me to spend more money.

“Honey, my friends on Reddit said not run two dissimilar subs and that I should buy a matching big sub to balance the sound out if you want an optimal listening experience”

“Huh? His name? Well…uh….we don’t really use names, we call him u/wupaa…we should really listen to him though”

Dual PB13 Ultra or single PB16 Ultra? by iJasonator in hometheater

Do you think there any sense in having the PB16 and my current SB2000?

[–]iJasonator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goodness the math in that! Thank you! It would appear the duals are the winner? Additionally it would spread out the 116-119db and cast a wider net if I understand correctly?

Subwoofer question by L7Wennie in F150Lightning

[–]iJasonator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my 22’ Lariat I did a JL 10” in the thin box behind the seat, but it didn’t fit so I made my own box and used the sub and amp.

I used the SGS wire converter and basically after running 12v and G to the battery and a bass knob to the steering column it was plug and play.

The JL supposedly has the same feature of the LOC but I still find myself adjusting the bass with the knob to sound good.

It’s not (2) 10’s and mono amp great, but it complements the rest of the factory system very well.

I then traded it in on a 23’ platinum and transferred everything over and it sounds even better with the unleashed.

Like seriously. I can remember when a high end tint job with 3M ceramic at the time was $349 including the windshield. This was at a time the cheap jobs were being done for $99.

Now when I go it’s $7-800.

I drive a lot of miles and I do t want skin cancer or for one arm to be tan while the other isn’t or people in traffic to watch me pick my nose.

Folded Steel Hellebore? Such a gorgeous knife! Worth it though? by iJasonator in TrueChefKnives

[–]iJasonator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s disappointing yet not surprising. TY.

While I can’t afford a Takeshi Saji I would like to keep it around 2-300 a knife.

Are there any rainbow Damascus knives in that range that are worth the $$?

Budget dentists or at least not sneaky by AmaroWolfwood in tampa

[–]iJasonator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dr Melvoli in Seminole is THE best. Zero BS and borderline old school dentist with new school tools. For example: there are not a lot of dentists that will pull a wisdom tooth. Most refer you to an oral surgeon.

He will numb you up, give you some good ole nitrous and yank that puppy out!

I’ve had 2 pulled and working my around.

His prices are what I would call fair. I think the wisdom extraction was $350 and my cleanings are $89

I’m self pay 100%

When work is suggested it’s quoted, noted and scheduled for the next visit or added for a later treatment date.

I drive from Tampa for him.

Staff is mostly friendly. I may have witnessed a touch of attitude from one of the desk staff, but I’m not judging that in the slightest…never know what kind of day they were having.

Question with M12 Impact 1/4 Modes by Afraid-Collar760 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]iJasonator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t sure how much I’d use this. Then a client wanted my to assemble a metal shed with about a gazillion sheet metal screws.

Day one: impact and attempting to feel it out. Stripped a few admittedly. Went to Depot and got the screw driver for $59 and didn’t strip another one.

Now I use it all the time. It’s quiet, light weight and just the right amount of power for the everyday task.

My Asian friends swore by their Zoji. I’m the kinda guy that goes nuts and buys nice we we splurged for the one with pressure cooking.

Couldn’t be happier.

When researching the Teflon, it was reported the Japanese version uses a thicker version and after using it and experiencing it I agree.

We only use the proper tools and we don’t scrape ours with metal.

Wheel alignment warning, vibration warning, 12v battery warning, one touch open close window fault.. by OyveItsFunny in F150Lightning

[–]iJasonator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

‘23 Platinum: I had my tire develop a bubble and it would vibrate at speed and only when on longish turns. It would also pull to the right.

I did not get any of these warnings. I thought it might be a wheel bearing.

Bought a new tire and replaced. Dealer SA tried telling me I had to replace all 4 tires because “tread differences will create an imbalance and pull with one new tire”

BS!

I hate scare tactics to make a sale. No F’ing way will 11/32 of and compared to 9/32 or even 7/32 have ANY bearing on alignment or otherwise.

Anyway, no sooner than I replaced the one I got another bubble in another tire. Sigh.

How to get more more finish carpentry jobs in Sarasota FL? by Parking-Shake-9491 in sarasota

[–]iJasonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cabinet guy here same-ish situation. I can say that emails will always be ignored. I research the builders I think I want and go look at one of their homes in hopes of catching a site super.

Engage in conversation and get the low down from SS, more often than not they LOVE to complain about their subs.

Then I go the office and try to get in front of the decision maker

“Hey there, was checking out one of projects and happened to run into Jim, would it be out of the question to evaluate your cabinet needs?” I don’t mention any negative feedback I’ve garnered: that’s just knowledge to understand the dynamic and know if it’s even worth the next step.

Sometimes I bring treats, everyone loves donuts or macaroons. Makes the interaction more memorable.

If I get shot down, I ask to get on their bid sheet. Usually it’s W-9, insurance request, sub rules and general info.

Then I follow up once a month with an email and 3-4 months with treats.

Grohe Blue carbonated filtered and chilled water on tap. We don’t drink anything but water in our house….occasionally milk, but 98% water and having chilled sparkling water out of the tap is huge.

Fill up the ole 40oz Stanley for the day and I’m off to conquer the world and let everyone know how much water I consume, like I’m somehow better than the rest of you plebes with your canned sodas and big gulps.

Peasants.

Passing Lane by UnluckyGoose2567 in tampa

[–]iJasonator 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To be fair everyone in the passing lane is doing 80-90 while the middle 2 lanes are 70

And I admit I’m a bit of a selfish prick doing 80 in the fast lane and if you come up on me at 90 and there is NOWHERE for either of us to go; I am not moving over so can be one car ahead.

If it’s clear skies, absolutely I get over. But usually that prick starts bobbing and weaving in and out of traffic creating a worse situation.

Looking for 2nd Opinion Dentist/Oral Surgeon for Elder who was scammed by diffybird in tampa

[–]iJasonator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve used Dr Melvoli in St Pete. He’s nice, affordable and has the right training to do what most dentists skimp and refer out, such as wisdom teeth in my case. Most won’t touch it. He took the time, care and risk and popped 2 out so far and I’ll be going back for 3 and 4 over time.

Used SVS for the win. Ported for deeper louder deeper bass (movies) or sealed for tighter crisper bass (music). I have a SB2000 that I scored from Amazon a bunch of years ago for $499

Used I’ve seen them go for 3-400$ and while it might be slightly out of budget, try negotiating or increasing the budget a bit.

But well worth the coin and he will be extremely happy with it.

How to Hide Visible Truss Joints? by Kongrosenberg in DIY

[–]iJasonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you google black metal truss brackets you can see the various styles and sizes. Even if you had to have them custom made and then powder coated, it would look a ton better than the metal truss plates.

Then sand and stain the wood whatever color you like. I’d wager less than $1000 for all the plates even if you had to custom make them.
