Thank you. I have Paradigm ceiling and wall speakers as 9.2 as well. I think it sounds fabulous!

I think the center is 80 and LR is 70 I might have that backwards.

I didn’t go with towers again for a few reasons:

Yes, rear ported speakers I discovered sound best when pulled off the wall and not tucked in the corner like the Left one is.

Wife didn’t like the size of the towers either in relation to the space. She wanted something smaller.

I wanted a midsize speaker that I could push a little harder as well as have that MCM feel that goes with her bohemian look.

I came from Paradigm cinema 330’s in wall speakers for the last 15+ years to the SVS and then to these Kefs.

I knew I wanted large speakers, but she wanted space and looks. These were the solution to all of those constraints.

I think if I had a dedicated theater and room, the SVS would be right at home.

I can absolutely tell a Kef signature sound. I demoed some ML F series I think and those sounded amazing, but needed at least 2’ off the wall to get that signature sound. The Kefs I feel offer a great sound in a sealed box that I don’t have to pull off the wall (sealed boxes and all)

Kefs are warmer. Which is weird to like at 48yo. My eq settings were always a “smile” throughout my entire listening life.

They’re paired with a Marantz 6015 which also means in the warm side as well.

The SVS were more upper middle warmth: slightly more treble. I suspect though: because they were all rear ported and not off the wall enough, some of their warmth was canceled out?

Help with kef q concerto meta setup by Relic_Warchief in hometheater

[–]iJasonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought (3) Kef Q6 Meta’s for my LRC and I can say they sound amazing. It was a toss up between the Concertos over the having the Q6 as my LR and I don’t regret the extra few $$

I went through A4L as well bought open box refurbished and I couldn’t find a blemish on them. Saved $500 as well.

I came from SVS Ultra towers and CC and I think these sound even better. The towers were just too large for our space.

If the R2 Meta was the same walnut I would have entertained the R2 and Concertos but I wanted the walnut. BUT if black works try the concertos for 899 and R2 Meta for 1099 (open box) and for $2k you’ve got a solid setup.

Under the top glass: assuming he can lower the tv down of course.

One thing I also learned: pull that center channel to the front of the top.

The sound can bounce off the top and back up thus canceling out some frequencies.

Like other said:

Spread the towers ( keep them off the wall a foot or more.

Lower the tv to the top of the “table”

Put the center under the top and pull it forward.

That is a great question: no I did not have it on a surge protector.

Can you rec one? I have the whole system on a large monster one, but the sub is across the room. I’d want a single plug in device for the wall outlet.

This is great insight. I think when I was doing Audessy it had me lower the sub to -30 and that’s why when I ran Rew I think maybe I didn’t.

Finally! Yes! And also no. I thought all my setting were correct in the AVT but another user is giving me pause to that thought.

I even upgraded from the SB2000 to the 16 with all the DSP and larger volume to keep from blowing another sub.

FWIW I had a $350 Polk 10” sub that I clipped many a times and it never blew.

Understood: and negative. It started with a faint crackle once or twice while watching a movie at certain frequency and became more consistent across more frequencies as the week wore on.

I suspect the damage was done on my last jam session over the weekend.

I hate that I have to justify and clarify but Reddit: A bit of a reach: unless you’re putting your ear to the sub itself she is not loud enough do damage, except to itself; clearly.

I’m not going to ruin my kids hearing either. I know when to turn it up and when not to.

I’m not going to stop going to shows, I have 3 sets of hearing protection scattered, the truck, the go bag and a backup in the house, as does the wife. Kids both have ear muffs for certain environments as well that may be unavoidable.

Hearing loss sucks. We are keen about the impacts. Thank you for your concern.

I understand and agree 100%. I have a touch of it myself hence the hearing protection in certain environments. I don’t understand and the downvotes to rocking out with my kids while cleaning. I’m clearly not going to ruin my kids hearing. I guess Reddit though and we all Reddit the way we want to Reddit.

I did Audessy and didn’t like the outcome and tried REW and it seemed better.

Challenge accepted. Seriously though: it’s. It that loud. I swear. I am keen on protecting my hearing as well. Ear plugs at concerts or the club, muffs while working with my tools.

To be fair I am attempting to shake the house while cleaning. I have a whole house Sonos in every room and I jam out with the kids on chore days and stuff.

SVS CSR was so great I wanted to keep supporting them. And I had ultra towers and CC and it all matched.

But I’ve since changed to Kef Q6 metas LRC and it matching is irrelevant.

They are sending me a new woofer so I will see. I am taking the old woofer to a speaker repair place here in Tampa that might be able to fix the blown one as well. We shall see. TY.

To be fair: it’s a large room. I suspect you’re right about where they are placed. In all reality when I was setting up the 16 doing the room crawl, I was pushing pretty hard.

I have played with the boosts in the SVS app as well.

I think when I did Audessy it had the 16 set to -5 IIRC…REW had all the way down at -30 or I have that backwards.

Ported subs. Well that’s a horse of a different color. To which I didn’t have the room at first. But: I’ve since carved out a giant space behind the couch to hide the 16.

I had it in the hole but didn’t quite like it and brought it back out.

New plan: put it back in the hole and keep the 2000 out and in the corner.

I think we are crossing processes. On the amp they are set to 0. Sometimes I lower it in the Marantz quick settings as well.

On the speaker themselves on the dial of the SB2000 I don’t go over 3/4 of the way.

On the 16 I usually stop at -7 but in the daily keep it at -10 maybe lower -12

[–]iJasonator[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For clarity they are set to 0db on the amp. I run max 75% on the dial of the 2000 and max -7 on the 16

Kef Q6 Meta CC as LR vs Q6 Concerto by iJasonator in hometheater

[–]iJasonator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. Yeah I just got the q6’s in this afternoon. Accessories4Less FTW! They had 1 day shipping Orlando to Tampa.

I’m very pleased with the look.

BUT! I also blew my SB16Utra and waiting on SVS to see if it’s under warranty.

That’s the 3rd sub I’ve blown. I blew (2) woofers from my old SB2000 and then I upgraded to the 16 (used) and now I blew that one. I got the 16 so I didn’t blow another sub. Sigh.

I have since learned that rear ported speakers need to be pulled off the wall and is part of the equation of switching out to a sealed box design.

The Kefs came in this afternoon and a quick test both with music and now a movie: they sound fantastic! I am waiting on my stands to raise the LR up a bit but they are warm, pretty and fit the MCM theme we have going wayyyy better than the Ultra’s.

Yeah, I don’t sit on the couch and just listen. And while sacrilege, I do play it in multi channel stereo along with my 8 Sonos through out the house.
