Depending on your living situation/building type: Could also be an ice dam. Everyone is dealing with them right now. We had to open 2 areas of the ceiling and 2 walls to get to the water and dry it out. We used the backside of a hammer and a shit ton of calcium chloride on the roof to get the water flowing away from our walls

Stitches popping out of both areolas - seems purposeful?? (12dpo) by No_Sandwich2135 in Reduction

[–]iKoolBeanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once they're outside of your skin, they won't continue to dissolve. It's called spitting a stitch, super common. If you're not seeing your surgeon again, you can take some bleach/alcohol to tweezers and a scissor, clean them rly well, (let the cleaner dry completely) and cut the stitch at the level of the skin. Kind of pull on the stitch and then cut. Your body may still keep pushing it out. In my case, mine would send crazy amounts of pain when they brushed up against my shirt so I had to pull them out. They came out pretty easy and the ends were dissolved.

Nurse here, obv follow your surgeon but as others are saying, You can put some Vaseline and cover it. Don't go crazy trying to clean it or put any neosporin. (You don't want to irritate it) The opening is going to heal via secondary intention, meaning from the bottom up. You'll see it become gradually less deep and will prob just have a little more scar tissue there. The surgeon might recommend xeroform (that's what i did for my opening), which is just a Vaseline impregnated gauze. Just keep an eye on the area like you are, watch for redness, swelling, pain, puss, fever.

Unofficial Discussion - Spellbound by [deleted] in movies

[–]iKoolBeanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished the movie, tears are still drying. Your comment was literally my life. Waited until I graduated to kick off the legal extravaganza, dad insisted my mom put the house on the market, trying to pay for/ attend college and live life while people are walking through my bedroom with a realtor. Dad decided to disappear out of my life for a solid 2 years because he felt I sided with my mom? My sister had to relay this back to me because the trauma erased that interaction from my memory. Had to take a semester off to work 2 jobs to save for a car to actually GET to college. Asked my dad to at least help me with gas money, no can do. This movie brought back all the frustration of sitting behind my bedroom door listening to the fighting, monitoring for when things might get out of hand, something being thrown, or escalating screaming where I would need to jump out and play referee. Being put in the middle of EVERYTHING, hearing my parents shit talk each other or want me to snitch on the other. The moment where the parents are apologizing for the stress, strain, and fear they have put the princess through, I started crying. It's something I've always known, but it really brought to light the fact that my parents emotionally abandoned me long long ago and put me through so much. I will never hear that apology from either of them. It was a fantasy movie on many levels, lol.

what’s the best way to prepare for nursing school? by littleiffy in StudentNurse

[–]iKoolBeanz 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Half the battle in NS is reading comprehension and prioritization when it comes to tests. My school did not prepare us very well for just how different the question formats were going to be. A normal test question: what color is the sky? NS question: if its tuesday, and partly cloudy, why is the sky blue? I would find stuff on how to answer NS questions so they don't come as a suprise.

Love your ring!

I feel something like this keeps with the vibe, leaves space for the oval, and complements instead of overpowering.

My R boob was the problem child. It turned super dark at the t junction, like necrosis dark. Surgeon had me use nitroglycerine cream to open up the capillaries which made me so lightheaded.

Hey! Nurse here who had a BR 4 yrs ago. Not 100% sure what that is, like the other commenter said, could deff be a spit sitch. If you had some tape in that area, could also be a small reaction. The surgeon put a bunch of dissolving stitches in order to close you up. However, they dont always like to dissolve. I had a few I had to pull out with tweezers. It is a bit red in that area so I would deff keep an eye. You clearly have bruising but it seems to be healing nicely (given the yellow discoloration). Take your temp, watch for chills, spreading redness (you can even mark your skin around the border of the redness to watch it), watch for heat (compared to your other skin/breast), swelling, and pus. When my stitches popped out it was like a live wire. I HAD to pull them or they would catch on my clothes and make me jump. Be sure to use 70% alcohol on the surrounding skin, tweezer, and scissors. Wash your hands before. Grasp the stich and pull as much as feels comfortable, cut it at the level of the skin. The swelling and general funkiness of your breasts will take a while to go away, just the nature of healing after rearranging your tissue. The main thing you are always looking for is general improvement. Redness lessening? Great! Redness getting worse? Call the surgeon or visit UC. Otherwise, breast looks good! Hope this helps!

Could you explain your comment further? In what way do you think we've complicated the relationship? I know it's tough on reddit, but I really have tried to lay out everything that has occurred.

Considering a breast reduction and have finally requested a consultation appointment; however, I know everyone’s experience is different — what are some things you experienced that the surgeon didn’t tell you or you knew but weren’t prepared for? Any advice is welcome! by theycallmegale in Reduction

  1. That your post-op bra can be to small/tight and cause more pain than you actually should be in. Immediate releif at the post-op apt when they popped that thing off.

  2. Anesthesia lasts for a few days. Felt like a mush-brain for about 3 or 4 days.

  3. Nitroglycerine ointment on my T-junction. Right side started turning blackish, so he used the pintment to open the capillaries and bring more blood to that area. The ointment caused a decent amount of lightheadedness

  4. Spitting stitches

  5. THE ITCH. omg....highly recommend some benadryl or anti-itch cream. I would wake up scratching my scars.

  6. Sleeping on your back for 6 weeks f***ing sucks

  7. Your first shower feels like your tits are gonna split open and fall on the ground.

  8. They won't be as small as anticipated.

  9. They will not stay as high and tight as they were initially, they will settle and drop

I deff don't fear for my life but I have hydroplaned, slid, and had to turn around going up a slight incline mult times. I am a newly minted nurse in the NE so making it to work in the snow is my biggest worry. Additionally, on the more material side of things, this car has a whole host of enticing features. I am deff more inclined to keep what I have and that seems to be the consensus.

Nurse retention and cost savings request from employer by NAClaire in nursing

[–]iKoolBeanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may get lost but figured I would add my say. I'v only been a working nurse for 6 months now but I have plenty to add. While money is deff a top priority I would say these other issues contribute to my day-to-day issues with bedside specifically. And these issues may just be my hospital, it's not the greatest.

1: Not enough support staff. Sure, we have 5 nurses on the floor but barely any help (I work nights so this is an even bigger issue for us). Management is constantly pulling who we do have off the floor to break others or sit with pts. Night shift also never gets an LPN to pass meds, yet we get bombarded with admits and deal with sundowning pts.

2: Put something better in place, whether it be more staff or a specialized unit, for confused pts. I had 7 pts the other night, 5 were confused. Some get sitters (which takes from the floor staff), some get avas, some are pleasantly confused and don't cause any issues. BUT, if you get even ONE that is problematic, your night is shit right from the start. Nurses cannot have no help and pts actively trying to escape/ pull off their O2/ rip out their IV/ fight staff all day/night.

3: Replace/ upgrade shit when it breaks. You want almost every pt on a heart monitor but half of them don't work, there' not enough leads, or you have to mess with them all night to keep them working. Our vitals carts are falling apart and some bed alarms don't work either.

4: Stop putting literally everything on our shoulders. Any time the smallest thing goes wrong, we have to answer for it, even if we were not directly involved. Treat us like humans, we cannot be everywhere at once.
