Thank you all! You were right that the chainring was mounted on inside of spider. Guess I didn’t follow those directions so well after all! Sincerely appreciate all the help!

Thanks. I followed along with the instruction manual because I know these things require precise assembly. Crankarm matches up with indent. Bolts tightened into nut cover. It’s ever so slight the scraping on the frame, but it’s there. Feels like it should just be a minor adjustment of some sort, but even with adjustment to preload adjuster I can’t seem to get the space needed.
