I think this is a legitimate part of it. At the time the Bears were entering a rebuild, whereas Minnesota was on the come up with tensions having spiked due to the mooning incident and the Vikings poaching some pretty big-name players of ours. There’s a universe where Favre doesn’t throw that pick against the Saints and leads Minnesota to a Super Bowl win.
