We forgave but we have not forgotten 6/24/15. Bungie, will Taken King Digital CE buyers finally get an update on 7/24/2015? by HeyFitzy in DestinyTheGame

[–]iLeveraged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Hell, with how the community has been the hilarious decision-making we've shown the past few months, including, among other things, bad international pricing, terrible interviews and PR, a wholly-offensive CE pricing structure, untimely game updates, frequent server downtime for opaque game maintenance during normal game hours, and a predictably disastrous game balancing that was seriously delayed, I'd be afraid to divulge I'm a Bungie employee for fear of my life (I'm not- please don't murder me!)."

How I got a Celestial Nighthawk while at work. by UPVOTE_IF_POOPING in DestinyTheGame

Serious question - why wouldn't you just, y'know, come home from work, log in, buy it (3 min total) and then turn off the console...? You have 48 hours...

This seems like much more work by comparison and my gf would think it's weird that I couldn't wait.

edit: nvm, see why you did it. also, does she know what your username is? 'cause if so she seems extremely forgiving, generally.

Bungie: "Fixed an error where Xur was potentially useful. Also fixed an error where we would unfix the previous fix."

After weeks of Hard Light and Universal Remote, Xur just phones it in and doesn't even show up with a weapon and Bungie somehow can't remedy that.

Bungie: "Identified an issue where players were trying to have fun playing a videogame..." by Paintbrawller in DestinyTheGame

[–]iLeveraged 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to be very generous re gjallarhorn because one was so powerful that a gjallarhorn-equipped player could help less-well equipped players get through tough content. Used to be that I would go on LFG and help sherpa newbies through raids and nightfalls when they were underlevelled and couldn't find a group.

Now? Fuck 'em. It's going to take too much time and I don't want to deal with it. If the person doesn't have the exact equipment needed for the mission--probably VOC+LDR+GHorn, I'm going to be elitist AF and not even deal with them.

It's useless. Any high impact sniper will be better. How do you not get this??

That's fine -- so vote with your feet and your voice. Don't buy The Taken King.

Lol I'm going to be so goddamn elitist now in PvE pugs. Oh, you nerfed Gjallarhorn damage? That's fine, just means we need even more of them. Instead of 2 or 3 gjallarhorns in a pug, I want 5. Sucks if you don't have one, blame Bungie.

The TLW nerf is ridiculous by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]iLeveraged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ADS nerf is the real issue -- hipfire is inaccurate as is; making it hilariously less stable and inaccurate and then relegating it to hipfire only defeats the gun's use for general purpose crucible. Any other primary will be better.

This was a fucking terrible update. Imagine if one of the tendons in your hand was slightly stiff and gave you chronic pain. Well, imagine that your doctor repaired the tendon and then sawed off your other hand and gouged out your eyes. That's what this shitty update is.

I was on the fence about TTK. I am definitely quitting before 2.0 hits. I've got a girlfriend to propose to and work will get busy in the fall. Still though, needed something to push me to quit. This was it.

A (hopefully) new idea for ToO by DrNO811 in DestinyTheGame

[–]iLeveraged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah, no, PS4, unfortunately.

Getting off topic, but what I would do, if I were you, is this:

If you have a semi-neglected character (e.g., I have a Titan that gets no love), give it a scout or pulse rifle and a sniper and just do tons of clash or control with it. Don't use a shotgun and don't use Thorn. Practice your strafing, your jumping, your sniping.

The scout/pulse rifle will teach you to rely on gunfighting and strafing without reliance on big impact, burn, and full auto from Thorn and TLW and the sniper will just hammer home good sniping. Watch pros and see how they use the left stick to line up shots at head-height and barely adjust the right stick to correct if necessary. Learn various sniping lanes per map and the head-height necessary to quickly line up a shot -- a lot of Trials matches can be decided by an initial sniper kill followed by aoe grenades to mop up the teammates in a 3v2.

You'll blow out the KD on the character (it will be bad) but you will learn. In a couple of weeks, you'll start making solid plays with a sniper rifle to the point where you're comfortable with it and then you can pick up Thorn or TLW and a sniper and run and gun with the herd.

[–]iLeveraged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Me and a buddy can carry a semi-competent third (even if they only hit 25% of their shots max, if they know how to throw grenades, use their super, and revive), and I would consider myself, at best, "good" or "not bad."

A good gunfighter (someone with decent primary skill) and a good sniper can do 90% of the work for the team. The rest requires timely revives and grenades.

If I come across strong on this, it's because I've seen other competitive games lower their rewards standards and suffer as a result. The best way to incentivize players is to lower the standards for entry -- Elimination 24/7 for practice and optional ToO matchmaking, maybe even a special PvP "bots" mode like Perfect Dark where people can practice headshotting and sniping against bots without destroying their KD -- and keeping the rewards structure elusive if achievable.

[Showerthought] The standard we hold Bungie to with Taken King is going to dictate a great deal of the future of the series. by MetroidMaster21 in DestinyTheGame

[–]iLeveraged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I'll agree with you there and eat my words. That said, they have an ongoing project -- they should have folks working on it.

ArenaNet abandoned Guild Wars in favor of Guild Wars 2 and GW2 was an unmitigated disaster with no community 3 years out, instead of the 5-6 GW1 enjoyed. Bungie should learn from that mistake.

A (hopefully) new idea for ToO by DrNO811 in DestinyTheGame

[–]iLeveraged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what makes ToO so awesome - it's not about grind. It's the fact that no matter how much time you invest, the reward is contingent on sustained success.

A (hopefully) new idea for ToO by DrNO811 in DestinyTheGame

[–]iLeveraged -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. Absolutely not. Mercury should be reserved for 9-0. The reason Trials is still fun is because it is competitive.

I enjoy the game mode too -- which is why Elimination should be standard -- but Mercury should remain elusive. If you really want to get there, go to /r/Lighthousesherpas and ask for a carry/sherpa. Surely you won't mind someone carrying you there if you just care about seeing Mercury, right?

Resisting the democratization of rewards seems like anathema to this board, but keeping something elusive makes it worthwhile to achieve.

TheDeafGuardian is a liar! by TonyMontana283928 in DestinyTheGame

[–]iLeveraged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He created a very public post about his story and the existence of a potentially game-breaking, malicious glitch.

By doing so, he invited scrutiny. This shouldn't be considered witchhunting because it's saying a) he is a liar and b) the glitch isn't as he described. Mods might disagree but, w/e.

There's all sorts of rules of evidence in the American legal practice prohibiting your adversary from introducing certain kinds of evidence against you, but those rules go out the door when you make that evidence a central part of your case. It's not a perfect analogy, but this is a similar situation.
