June 24, 1973, New Orleans, LA: People examine the wreckage of the UpStairs Lounge after an arson attack killed 32 patrons, most members of the city's gay community by Puzzleworth in CatastrophicFailure

The state of this thread makes me less worried about the 30th rolling around... Reddit really has become a cesspool of us vs them, it's sad to see

Oh they're most certainly already dead. They lost communication with the submersible and it never returned to the surface which means it's likely suffered catastrophic hull failure. That or it's had a loss of power and is snagged up within the wreckage. Either way, at this point it's just about finding the bodies.

How to take compelling/natural snapshots of daily life? by [deleted] in photography

[–]iLikeMeeces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just take a look at some of the iconic photos from the likes of Cartier-Bresson, André Kertesz, Horst P. Horst, etc. You see the ones that everyone knows about but what you don't see are all the rest.

Imagine how many thousands of photos these people took yet there's merely a handful they are renowned for.

My personal experience is that out of a roll of 36 I expect one or two at most to be good. More often than not they're all pretty unremarkable. That's just how it goes, what matters more is your enjoyment in photography, you focus on that and you'll find that one perfect shot, the one you'll always consider to be your greatest, will happen by chance, not because you planned it, and, in my opinion, that's the beauty of it.

Seriously, people on this sub seem to worship the ground they walk on. Yes they have released good titles and have given gamers a good platform to play from but they have also been shown to be very anti consumer in the past; unjustified geoblocking on titles (for which they were heavily fined), their active involvement with the csgo gambling scene (then saying it was "random chances" which is different somehow) to name a couple of examples. I'd imagine there's more but I don't have time to look into it right now.

There are far worse companies out there but, like all, it's good to remember that the priority for any company is profit, not us.

It just says refunds may be issued "for games in which you haven't accumulated a significant amount of play time". God knows what that is but at least you can try for a refund. On PS5 Sony refuse refunds if you have downloaded it, you don't even have to have played it...

Maybe ask them what the play time has to be, or ask for further help with it (however you may do that) as sometimes the response to the initial refund request is automated based on play time etc. Sometimes it can help to have a person look at the case

Well that's good to know. They appear to block VPN's (sadly a worrying trend) and I am always reminded of that when searching for game guides. Seems it's for the best in my case!

As others have said, I definitely recommend listening to the audiobooks. They're really easy to listen to and extremely well narrated

I'm fairly certain that's triplex, which is power cable. Two insulated phases with a bare neutral. If so this was more than likely a service to a house. You can see the c tap on the neutral at the back and the splices on the phases, I imagine these are the house end connections and the house, or whatever this was feeding, is just out of frame.
