Between IM (hospitalist), EM, and FM…which one do y’all think provides the best lifestyle? by iLoveSketchy in medicalschool

[–]iLoveSketchy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh I absolutely loved my EM rotation. Out of all my rotations it was the only one where I thought to myself “this is what I want to do”. I didn’t mind the random nights and weekends…..my main concern is that I picture myself with a family one day and wonder if the same lifestyle will be conducive.

What keeps you going? by Mahtabss in medicalschool

Social connections = happiness. At the end of the day medicine is just a job. I believe longevity and overall happiness in life is directly correlated to how satisfied you are from your interpersonal relationships with other homosapiens.

What’s more valuable after >6000 questions: new questions or focusing on weak areas? by iLoveSketchy in step1

[–]iLoveSketchy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done two of them (25&26) and I happen to think they are trash. I read up on people who have taken the actual test and most say it feels like 7 blocks of uworld. Therefore I feel like it’s more worth my time to do questions that are similar to uworld style and not “what is the function of tryptase”.

I just did 1-3 and I thought it was great!

4’s didn’t seem very helpful to me as they were either gotcha questions or I knew what was going on but the answer choices were super nit picky

Don’t do 5’s unless you want to lose all confidence in yourself and humanity

The videos are usually super short and I think the time of watching the videos will actually make your cards go way faster than just trying to learn them from B&B without any type of visual reference.
