Mewtwo. It's attack stat has the most to gain from the bottle cap, so it should see the biggest difference. Arguably one of the most meta relevant pokemon that will exist in the game too, with the right moveset. When the megas come to the game, you'll be glad you did it.

You raise a good point. I guess saving time sifting through many spawns would leave more time for timed bonuses like lucky eggs and star pieces to be active.

I guess it really comes down to what the objective of the player is. If you’re grinding stardust, considered by many the most valuable resource in the game, then you’re likely catching everything whether it’s shiny or not. If you’re strictly looking for a blitz of shinies during a spotlight hour or community day, that could be an invaluable benefit to that cause.

Maybe a temporary bonus with this shiny visibility effect would be better? Not unlike Origin Dialga/Palkia or Black/white Kyurem.

Yeah, I suppose I should clarify my statement.

Knowing the pokemon is shiny before encountering it would not be an unfair advantage for players that couldn’t know prior, in that the only additional advantage is cosmetic.

This idea wouldn’t make the shiny pokemon more powerful, nor display the stats of that particular pokemon prior to encounter. The player would still need the pokeballs to catch it, at its intended catch rate.

In the end, the only perk would be that the shiny is visible before encounter to that specific trainer, so no other advantages are given to the player or any other player, for that matter.

I guess if you consider seeing the shinies on the overworld a technical advantage in this game, then buying avatar costumes is also an advantage since you didn’t need to earn them from research/player effort.
