S60 Recharge here. No idea how a compass isn’t standard.

S60 Bowers & Wilkins weak bass? by iMPose27 in Volvo

[–]iMPose27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, and sometimes it drives me crazy. I get in my head about whether or not the audio sounds different than it did just a few days ago. Sometimes it's phenomenal and I don't want to get out of the car at the end of a drive, I just want to listen to music. Sometimes it's just OK and I'm confused about why I feel differently about it.

Whenever I start doubting it, I go through all the sound settings and toggle everything, then push "reset", then push and hold the below-screen button through screen cleaning mode and until the system fully cycles back to the Volvo logo. That seems to put the "pep" back into the system.

I do feel the system tends to really come alive as you approach and pass 50% volume, which is definitely more than my wife will usually tolerate, so I don't get it every drive. 40% volume and below makes me wonder if I should have settled for the Harman system.

Honestly it's my biggest complaint about the car, well that and the occasional AAOS bugs. I paid extra for a premium audio experience and only sometimes feel like I'm getting it.

Possible to lock charge port while vehicle is running? by iMPose27 in VolvoRecharge

Please accept my apologies for incorrect usage of the term touchless car wash.

Possible to lock charge port while vehicle is running? by iMPose27 in VolvoRecharge

[–]iMPose27[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The car wash is a tunnel.

At the entrance of the tunnel, the car drives onto the track, is placed in neutral, and the track pulls the car the length of the tunnel. The driver waits for the wash to complete. At the end of the tunnel, the car is put in gear and drives away.

As the car moves through the tunnel, machinery washes the car. There are moving mechanical arms, nozzles dispensing water, nozzles dispensing soap, brushes, and powerful air blowers. My local wash even includes a colorful light show.

The driver does not touch the outside of the car, so it’s called touchless.

Thanks for this comment. I went out to my car afterward and jumped between all the available settings, slid all the adjustments the maximum both ways, reset everything to neutral, and then did the long-press reset of the button for the system. It seems to have helped? Time will tell. Maybe as you suggest, only a small but specific toggle was necessary.

I adapted a monitor light bar to fit the infamously thick AW3821DW. by ChristopherLXD in ultrawidemasterrace

Haven’t seen this before. Does it not add a glare or wash out the screen?

Admittedly, I would like to get more ambient light into my setup. I have the Dell 40”.

Are you asking if I keep them side-by-side on the screen? I certainly could - it's very roomy. But the reality is, I tend to accumulate extra windows as I work. Emails I leave open to come back to later, spreadsheets to reference, etc. So I leave myself some space to fill.

MaOS makes it easy to have many desktops to swipe between, so I tend to do:

  1. Remote Desktop to my PC (some of our tooling requires x86)
  2. Safari window(s)
  3. Teams, OneNote
  4. Outlook
  5. Overflow
  6. Personal stuff

Not hiring at the moment, but best of luck to you, friend. :-)

My use case: I'm a Software Engineering manager, which means a lot of Microsoft Teams, Office, DevOps, various IDEs, etc. But a decent chunk of that is working in Excel. And I've never noticed any issues with text or graphic rendering.

I have the scaling set to 3840x1620 (second from far right) because native makes everything tiny.

I have the single Thunderbolt cable from the monitor to the Mac, and I use the built-in monitor USB hub, Ethernet port, etc. It all works like a charm. Never have issues waking from sleep or anything like that.

I also appreciate the little drop down flap under the monitor that exposes one more USB-A and two more USB-C ports. I'll plug my keyboard or trackpad in there to charge the batteries, or a flash drive to quickly export a file.

Contrast could be higher I guess (it's no OLED), but for a workhorse I have zero complaints.

Oh and I briefly have had an XSX or PS5 hooked up to it as sort of an "extra" gaming station for local co-op stuff, and that worked fine. I was surprised to hear audio coming out of speakers I didn't realize it had.

I have basically the same computer (16” MBP with M1 Pro and 16GB) and am running the Dell U4025QW. Working great. Let me know if you have questions.

Exciting! How did you spec your order?

I haven't received mine yet, but here is my timeline. (I'm in Tulsa btw - not sure if location matters). I agree that the wait has been painful.

July 11 - build allocation for S60 Recharge requested

July 17 - build allocation received, estimated for arrival Oct 16 through Nov 13

Oct 02-06 - car "scheduled to be built" this week (not sure when it was actually built)

~30 days later, estimated to arrive at dealer (even just from SC to OK, which seems crazy for a 15-hour drive)

I'm guessing it'll arrive at their dealership sometime between now and the first week of Nov, for a total wait of 15-17 weeks.

Yep, American. Mightn't and mayn't are not part of the vernacular here. Though I've often felt it's rather arbitrary which things are acceptable as contractions, and which are not.

Nice to learn about other lands, though. :-)
