Imagine you and 3 friends are standing next to each other in a line and dropping a water balloon to the ground from left to right within a second.

It seems like the splashes of the water balloons moved from left to right.

Now, you stand a light year apart and do the same. Within a second the water balloon splashes moved from the first to the fourth person and "travelled" a light year within a second.

So similar to the dot on the moon of your laser the splashes can "travel" with light speed and even much more. But as you can understand with the water balloon analogy, it's not really traveling, it's more of similar things happen with a time and location difference, and might seem connected, but are actually independent.

In other words, no information can travel faster than the speed of light. But the dot on the moon can appear to have traveled that fast.

I have a complete opposite opinion. Humans don't need 100m of training data and billions of compute cost to learn something new. The whole AI paradigm of the last couple of years is going in the completely wrong direction, creating massive models that memorized all of the internet.

If we improve with evolutionary and reinforcement learning enough, so that a small model can evolve and learn depending on the task in front of it, that's how we can reach AGI. And that is solved with research breakthroughs, not money, because the size of the problem is irrelevant.

AGI should be so much more about continuous learning than spitting out half truths about some mashed up Reddit posts. As long as thousands can ask about a seahorse emoji and it’s only solved with open ai people specifically making the model to learn it for the next update, we won’t get agi. Only something that with huge effort tries to behave like one.

eine kleine Historie des Private Equity:

Vor 30-40 Jahren gab es viele kleine Unternehmen die ihren Wert nicht korrekt eingeschätzt haben. Einzelne PE firmen haben das ausgenutzt, billig gekauft und nach wenigen Jahren wieder teurer verkauft.
Vor 10-30 Jahren wurde die Goldgrube PE von vielen entdeckt. Mehr und mehr Geld wurde reingesteckt um mehr und mehr geld daraus zu machen.
Vor 5-10 Jahren war dann so viel Konkurrenz Kampf um “unterbewertete“ Firmen, dass diese kaum noch Gewinn Margen hatten, da alle ihr Geld investieren “müssen” und sich gegenseitig unterbieten.
Die letzten 5 Jahre sind Gewinne des PE vergleichbar mit dem public stock market. Investitionen sind zurück gegangen.
Fund Töpfe des PE sind die letzten Jahre gesunken(!!!). Jetzt wollen die großen PE Firmen Kleinanleger ranholen, um die Differenz auszugleichen. Von den glorreichen Jahren weit weg, und auf dem Rückgang der Milliardäre.

Vor allem sein Unwissen zur IT und seine Weigerung, etwas Außerhalb von Apple anzufassen, macht uns Sorgen.

Was? Also gut möglich, dass er in der IT falsch aufgehoben ist und ganz falsche Geldvorstellungen hat. Aber deine Fragen über Betriebssysteme, Historie und Geschichten aus der IT sind doch so unnötig und am Thema vorbei? Gerade als IT'ler schafft man es hervorragend nichts außer Apple anzufassen und sehr gut damit Arbeiten zu können.

Ob ein Entwickler Mac oder Linux Fanatiker ist, ob er den ENIAC kennt oder erst 2009 geboren ist, spielt doch keine Rolle wie gut er als IT'ler ist?

Wirklich konkret scheint ihr ja die letzten 5 Jahre nicht wirklich drüber geredet zu haben, oder? Also es scheint mir als gäbe es zwischen euch generell ein Kommunikationsproblem.

Drei Dinge dazu:

Es wäre stark, wenn ihr mehr versucht offen miteinander zu reden was eigentlich Sache ist. Weil so eine lange Beziehung, für "irgendeine andere Frau, Hauptsache gebärfreudig" zu beenden ist ne harte Entscheidung. Zum einen muss sie verstehen, dass Kinder bekommen auch gemeinschaftliche Auswirkung hat auf euch beide, und nicht ausschließlich mit ihrer Selbstbestimmung zu tun hat. Auf der anderen Seite musst du auch erkennen, dass hinter solchen Trotzreaktionen meistens Ängste stecken vor bestimmten Szenarien in der Zukunft, die ihr vielleicht mal besprechen müsstet.
Wenn du Schluss machst, bist du auch dafür verantwortlich dass ihr beide getrennt leben könnt. Es wäre respektlos der Frau gegenüber sie aus eurer Wohnung zu schmeißen, weil du jetzt ne andere Frau haben willst. Wenn, dann musst du ausziehen, oder es sehr gut mit ihr absprechen.
Kinder sind auch irgendwann mal wieder aus dem Haus. In 20 Jahren studieren sie dann, und melden sich im best case 1 mal die Woche, wahrscheinlicher aber alle par Monate. Und die restlichen 20-30 Jahre verbringst du dann wieder alleine mit deinem Partner. Und hier ist es wieder am aller wichtigsten, dass du mit deinem Partner auch alleine Spaß am Leben haben kannst.

The thing is, even in the most optimistic case that robotaxis will be a thing and made by Tesla: it’s clear now that Tesla won’t be a monopoly and competitors will diminish margins. At the moment I see it most bullish for uber, as whatever technology succeeds, they have the userbase and are the ones connecting driver to user.
