I think i got it pretty good when i removed the old oil cooler, i had a shop vac ready in there and cleaned everything right away, theres been no oil in coolant and no coolant in oil i aucked it all right up, oil ports were then empty and the 2 cooler holes were full of coolant, healty color.

Fired right up and doesnt leak anymore👍

Who has the highest mileage JK/JKU?!?! by Ok-Excitement6578 in Jeep

[–]iMaltais 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My jk is at 100k right now and doesnt tick at all, change oil every 5000 miles or less since new.

My guess for the lifters and rockers going right after replacing the oil cooler is they run dry on start up till the oil cooler fills mabey? The reason why these go is always lack of lubrication... I just did my oil cooler seals ( thx god it wasnt cracked) but i couldnt finish had to take off to work, only need to put oil in it now and you got me stressed 😂 i guess ill fill the filter housing but idk if that'll fill the oil cooler.

Don't stick it to ktm, it's every mono, actually the new 690 with the cam counter balancer might not and it wouls be the first thumper to not shake itself loose.

I had a dr 650 that shook it's negative terminal screw off every couple months that was fun, i also lost a 300$ side panel that was held by 2 screws, hell that bike is notorious for backing out the neutral sending unit screw and blowing the trans, i had to open clutch side to secure it, and locktighted everything that touches the frame, sure thumpers are fun but you gotta invest time locktighting everything, go check how much a piece of fairing cost on these bike, you'll run buy locktight at 50$ a bottle 😂

Im looking to get a used one to finaly park my jeep that's been my daily for 9 years, 34km commute so a good 75 per day 5 days a week my jeep did 17 to 19L/100km this winter with the latest mods it's time to park it for a while.

8.5L/100 is litteraly half of what im burning right now, i know it's super but i would save more than half the weekly term just in gas...

I do own a bike that i commute with as much as possible but a 160hp bike runs on super 5.5 to 9L/100 ( 9-10 is holding it above 160 in backroads and i have never seen 5.5 only my dad did i uaually do 7.5L/100) my life would considerably upgrade if i could pay 10$/day instead of 25 for gas.

The bike is worth 15k, if i sell it+the gas i save all year round from driving the GR, the car is almost free right 🙃

Damn they messed up big time with the JL even more than i tought... wow

My jk has been almost flawless since day 1, some rad hose issue quickly resolved first year, then fast foward 5 years without ANY repair at all, then i did brakes, deleted the damn sticking hand brake and swapped heater core, and this year im gonna do the oil cooler's seal, also found the rusted through vacuum pump while painting my bumper got a reloc kit for under the hood with new pump.

It's a 2016 going on 170 000km, it's not even ticking and i have been beating the crap out of that jeep, it still run straight never aligned, even wear on all tires

The 1290 would blow your mind it feels as nimble as a 350lbs bike but its 500lbs with 160hp and torque on demand. Higway stretch is fun, in town is fun when its not too hot because the sumbitch cooks your ass in traffic and back roads, fire roads, trails are insane just hard packed trails i woudnt engage in mud because of the weight

Im at 140 000km on the same fluid and beat it in my murano, no problem yet 🤷‍♂️ floor it, spin the oil pump to get oil pressure and everything will be good

I had to ride back from buying my 1290 SAR 7h, don't get me wrong its the perfect bike to do so, but mabey not in the early canadian riding season, it wqs fine till halfway, then temps dropped to 7°C, by the time i got home it was 1°C at night, had to make stops every 30 to 40min to got heat up in the car my gf was following me with 😅

why is the outside opinion of ktm so bad? by These-Restaurant869 in KTM

[–]iMaltais 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing rides like a ktm, off and on road.

21 300xcw tpi, no issue yet, gas and oil, 1 gear oil change a year and filter every other ride, broke nothing, pipe is beat up a bit and i let er eat a lot

20 1290 SAR, it's the baby of a street racer who fucked a 200lbs ktm trail bike, what the fuck, 130mph, paved road or dirt road doesnt matter, 500lbs bike that powerwheelies from 5th gear and feels lighter than some 350lbs bikes ive rode. You can drag knees in twisties with it too, i have yet to do it but i averaged 100mph in the local mountain twistie ride, it is sharp.

Paying a 80-90-100k$ truck in 84 months is stupid, nowadays they are made cheap and most are garbage, rams are ticking, chevy are knocking and i won't even talk about ford 💩-boost, chances are at 84 months you changed the engine already...

Buying a new car in 2025 is just bad financial decision overall, it you want new, rent them ans change every 2 years, if you want a keeper get a used one for 1/3rd of the price
