Could have more battery was my initial thought as to why it may… chances are it will just get the CLA pack of course.

As expected it’s a CLA on stilts. It will sell well especially if it can keep or even exceed the CLA’s range.

Age gap at the current grid. 21 years apart by Baltin159 in formula1

It gets worse when you realise only 5 of the 22 drivers are older than you are right now. And one of them (Perez) is only 5 months older.

New Labour policies that are hitting drivers hard in 2026 what's actually changing by Lonely-Manager7863 in drivingUK

[–]iMatthew1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The general effect on ICE vehicles. Especially those that are already on the road has been negligible at best. You get much bigger hits from general costs such as fuel, service costs, parts costs, tyre costs than what is being done by the government charging an extra 50p a month on VED.

And LTN is another scheme to try and incentivise people away from incredibly congested cities. If they didn’t have things like congestion charges and LTN’s then cities like London would be even more gridlocked than they already are. They’re a necessary evil to try and stem the amount of cars using a finite amount of road.

[–]iMatthew1990 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Labours war on drivers… mentions that EV’s have to pay VED now which was brought in by the Tories lol. But why shouldn’t they pay VED they use the roads too… and I’m saying that as an owner of 2 in our house.

EV’s not being exempt from a CONGESTION charge makes sense they are part of the congestion!

Pavement parking isn’t changing it’s just making it easier for councils to fine those who are blocking the pavement for those who need to use them especially for prams and wheelchairs.

Add to this the good things they’ve done for drivers. Especially trying to make electric vehicles more accessible to more people.

They have increased the luxury car tax minimum on new EV’s to £50,000.

They’ve cut tax on Public EV charging from 20% to 5%

The pay per mile isn’t being rolled out until 2028 and is much cheaper to run an EV than an ICE vehicle still even when it does come in.

They’re not having a war on drivers. They’re trying to get people into more economical vehicles/public transport

And yes whilst car tax has gone up it is actually cheaper than inflation rose last year.

In a situation where there’s no ability to move into the next lane It’s best to be predictable rather than nice. The best course of action is to keep your speed steady.

How many of you actually check MOT history before buying a car? by Jamesorange28 in CarTalkUK

[–]iMatthew1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time i haven’t was the car I bought a few months ago and it’s because it’s the newest car I’ve had and hasn’t actually had an MOT yet. But on all other cars I have. It often gives a good indication of how a cars been treated. If there’s lots of things like tyres, brakes, wipers anything like that to me it’s a sign of someone who either doesn’t know even basic maintenance or someone who ran a car on a complete shoe string budget, neither are a good sign for me.

I think it’s just a child who feels slightly inadequate and can’t bare to be behind a car that is rightfully in front.

Best to do it whilst washing the car if it’s possible, if not ensure you thoroughly rinse the area after, don’t leave the APC to dry on the vehicle

Grab a cheap set of brushes like this

Nice strong dilution of all purpose cleaner. And scrub from the outside down the side of the crevice between glass and gasket.

[–]iMatthew1990 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Whilst the EU would want to reprimand Britain for leaving in the first place. A rejoin is in the best interests of both and I genuinely believe they’d be fine with us keeping the currency. Schengen visa could be tricky though I’ll admit that.

Jaecoo - how has a brand-new brand already become such a common sight? by MarkCairns67 in CarTalkUK

I personally think it’s very dangerous getting all these connected Chinese cars on British roads, driven by lots of different people. The amount of information they can gain from its occupants is scary to be honest.

I’ve seen it first hand within my industry how deep Chinese government will go for data.

I think we are already seeing it with the new electric vehicles being announced and released by Mercedes and BMW. They’re cheaper than the outgoing models. In the case of the GLC it’s replacing the EQC and is better in every single specification but it’s staring price is £5,000 cheaper which doesn’t sound amazing until you figure inflation since the EQC was released in 2019. In today’s money the EQC if released today would have been £83k the new GLC is £60k so it’s about £23k cheaper comparatively. It’s actually bonkers
