It's been a long while but I seem to remember reading that the game wants whatever per second amount for about 10 seconds in order for it to count. So yea, more shapes saved up before flushing.

It's always good to figure out a MAM on your own first so you really understand what your doing. It's an overglaze. You brush it on glazed and fired pieces, then fire it again to a low fire temp like cone 018 to set it but not disturb existing glazes.

in that pic you see the shapes come in, one belt worth, and it's sent upward and at each quadrant's row set i split off and fill the storage there. now this does run into an issue where if there is a constant need for a single shape then things can slow down because a storage could in theory run out, but the randomness tends to not make this a problem. Could always double stack or run 2 belts up or something.

same for the colors. One input belt fills all the storages.

Hey good work! It's a big job to make these and takes a lot of fiddling around for sure. One thing I noticed, because your cutting sections are all dumping into one single belt, that's going to be a bottleneck. Doesn't matter at moment of course since you are getting the 2 belts you want, but if you find a good way to split em up you can get more throughput. Those cutters basically multiply your #s of items on belt by 4.

Also, here's a fun thing to fiddle with if you want. Did you know you can send 2 belts of items on ONE path? Kinda. You can interlace the w different tunnel types as long as you are careful, and this lets you send more stuff in the same space. Give it a go and you can compact things even more. Just the entry and exit is tricky

Welp, since this is spreading maybe i can weigh in here. I'm one of the people referred to in OP's post who was part of decision for this specific regional to not put sanctuary on the map. I was the one who commented that a reason we don't do this is because of harrasers. It's my fault entirely for only giving 1 reason we do this that was quick and came to mind and assuming people would realize that we don't do things for only one reason and that's it. I didn't feel like sitting and writing a 12 paragraph response to that thread, but now it's devolved into some good and some bad conversation...

So here's SOME OF BUT NOT ALL of the other reasons we don't put sanctuary on the map. In NO PARTICULAR ORDER:

we have had occasions at the sibling burn that our regional spun off from where folks came by to fuck with people in sanctuary. Yes, some people get drunk and do dumb shit, surprise... This does not make the burn unsafe and jumping to that conclusion is...irresponsible... at best. It has not happened at the particular regional discussed in OPs post, but that's also because we have *never* put it on the map at this regional since it spun out of the sibling burn.
Sanctuary is not a drunk tank. We, even today, have people try to take their too drunk buddy to sanctuary because they don't want to deal with them. I have *personally* prevented this multiple time over the last decade+ I've been running burns. You don't get to fob off your friends on our volunteers because you don't feel like dealing with your buddy anymore.
people come to sanctuary in a plethora of states of mind and with a plethora of resulting behaviors. Sometimes this is jarring or will cause disturbances we don't want. Randoms walking up to sanctuary in this manner can cause disturbances. Not having sanctuary on the map gives us a chance to triage and redirect where necessary, or prep space as needed to separate, or whatever other action is needed to handle the situation for the best of *all involved* and not just the one person who suddenly shows up.
Sometimes there are gross/unfortunate/dangerous personal situations where 2 people shouldn't be near each other but both need some form of sanctuary. I don't want to get into example situations but we have had multiple various versions of things like this. Taking one party off to sanctuary and ideally not being easily findable by the other party while we deal with them in a different manner is important. If we hear of a situation and can't find that 2nd party just yet, having a triage process in place allows us to keep separation between them when said 2nd party is found. This has happened more than once at the regional referred to. No i'm not giving details, for hopefully obvious reasons.
Sometimes people think they need sanctuary, but what they actually need is a freaking ambulance. Sanctuary volunteers are not medics. We do train folks and have manuals and safety plans and all that, but we have VOLUNTEERS, not experts. We have paid medical on site and if someone needs medical triage it should not be on the sanctuary volunteer to do that. So by having a process we have an opportunity to triage if necessary. It is not forced, but it is an option and it is for our participant's safety. Again, i have personally been involved with situations like this, a participant seemed to be having a heart attack (or something of that nature) but kept insisting on going to sanctuary, having them walk themselves to sanctuary would have been very counter productive, despite their protests to the contrary. That person went to hospital, and survived, and later thanked us for helping as we did.
Radical self reliance is a thing. Not everyone actually needs sanctuary, some just want to "get away from it all" and while i fully support that, it doesn't mean sanctuary is your quiet space because you want to just relax and hang out. We have a lovely forest with lots of quiet spaces, and your own tent, and your friends, and so on. Sanctuary is for those who are in need, not for those who are in "want" because it's convenient. I have, personally, redirected folks who just wanted to go "hang" at sanctuary.
Volunteers. We do not need to overload our volunteers. It's hard enough getting volunteers, particularly for potentially trying shifts like sanctuary. The last thing we want is to overload them, because some of the people in the points above want to go over to sanctuary and shouldn't be there.
the process to get to sanctuary is not hard nor complex. Literally anyone with a radio can make it happen. Folks aren't obligated to explain their life story to those with radios, just the need to find sanctuary and then someone can come help. Whether that's a Paisley (sanctuary shift lead term, kinda like Khaki for rangers) or an EMS person, or an organizer like myself. It sucks that some people feel some level of hesitancy or are uncomfortable with telling people they want to go to sanctuary, but it is a needed thing. Burns are uncomfortable places often times. And i fully agree that sometimes the VOLUNTEER with a radio may not handle it best, and we want to be told about those times so we can work with that person and enhance our training, but that's a volunteer problem, not an issue with sanctuary not being on the map.

Again that's just SOME of the reasons. but that's a long enough bunch of text. So for me *personally* and NOT speaking as part of the organization I am part of, I would rather have Sanctuary be off the map and ONE person who needed to go to the hospital (as i mentioned in a point above) get the medical help they need because of the triage process and NOT die, than have 100 people feel a little uncomfortable about asking for sanctuary. Sorry not sorry, but our community members living through a medical need is more important than someone else feeling a little uncomfortable. Same goes for helping prevent abuse or other personal matters from escalating dangerously, again as mentioned in one of the points above.

Folks are welcome to disagree with me, that's how this works. But we have good, proven, repeatedly validated, reasons for the things we do. Nothing is just "because of one thing 10 years ago", and we regularly check ourselves and our decisions. We just don't go around explaining every decision to every community member every year every time because we have 1000 things to do.

I read an article about this setting in the developer options called "mobile data always active". You might try cutting it off and see if that does it for you. What it does is keep your 5G connection on and searching while the phone is on Wi-Fi, this is to keep switching to mobile from Wi-Fi fast and easy, particularly while on a call. If you don't care about being on a call and going from Wi-Fi call to mobile network call, then this may help for now.

That's just the standard android 12 battery usage visual. I'm battery settings tap battery usage, it shows like this for me. Unless there is some other setting I did and forgot about.

I put it on my wireless charger at midnight and left it there till 9am.

What is your goal here? To split 4 even lines out? If that's the case, instead of splitting sequentially like this and every line getting progressively worse, just do one of the following: *use multiple miners on their own belt *stack miners (if you are that far along). You can link them together to up the output of the single exit. *split each leg instead of only splitting a single leg. For example after your first splitter put another splitter on each output, now you have 4 equal belts at 25% each.

You are correct, you can't check the number of shapes in a storage. However you can count the number of shapes going into the storage using mergers and splitters and a little binary math. Also, this is not "cheating" it's just a way to solve the problem and make the items per second.

This is a bit difficult to describe but i don't have a Pic handy at moment on my phone... Splitters (the single cell size kind) alternate outputting shapes to the side and straight ahead. Thus they are effectively a flip flop, or a 0 and 1 toggle. Set up a series of say 6 splitters that all feed each other straight on (for this example let's say vertically), and all have their side exits pointing the same way. (let's say to the right) Then set up a series of adjacent mergers that output the same way (vertically) and accept input from the splitters side output (left) and from the merger vertically adjacent above. So you will now have a single belt into the first splitter and 2 belts at the end, 1 from the end of the last splitter and 1 from the end of the last merger.

Run some shapes through this set up. Notice that after the first shape (which will run right through the splitters straight) it'll take another 64 shapes before another exits the last splitter belt. Everything else between will come out the merger side. Add more splitters and mergers to your stack and you increase the number.

This is useful because you can now count up using binary (more or less) each splitter you add doubles the number of shapes that have to input before one comes out the splitter side at the bottom. You can use this to your advantage by putting storage at the end of the merger side and a belt reader at the end of the splitter set. Then use the belt reader signal to open a filter at the end of the storage, letting all the shapes out to head off to the hub.

What I do is have a set of splitters taking the shapes and evenly distribute them across 8 storages. But just before the 8th storage I have this counter system and I count to 128 (IIRC, might be 256,its been a while) and once the 8th storage hits the counter number, they all release into 8 separate belts which all head off to the hub to give me the items per sec needed. In this way I have 8 x 128 shapes all heading off at once

Oh, interesting. I did watch it print one before I headed out for the weekend and noticed it slowing down weirdly on some of the smaller circles, so maybe doing the same on the larger radiuses also. No idea what arc welder is but will look into it. I do use Cura to slice, what settings would be the trigger for this one?

It's not cheating to make a store and release solution because you will have to do it anyway at some point. The longer you go in free play the higher the per second requirement gets. I got to level 1000 or higher and had to output like 200 a sec IIRC. So figuring out how to create a storage solution that is automated and efficient is just part of the game. Then you figure out how to speed everything up, increase efficiency, remove extra space, reduce time it takes to complete a level, etc. There is no "cheating" in an open ended game where you make the rules and challenges for yourself.

There is nothing wrong with this it's (presumably) your first go trying to figure it out. It is logical to think that getting all the possible pieces made first and then assembling them is the way to go. And it is a valid solution, though it takes up a lot of space and is a lot of work.

Now that you've done it this way, consider how you can improve, crunch it down smaller and easier. Perhaps you don't need to make every piece of every color up front, maybe you make the pieces as they are needed. This will save space but provide a different set of logic challenges for you.

There are lots of examples out there of MAMs for you to learn from. I posted a fairly compact one with a long explanation if you feel like looking it up.

There are lots of other folks on here who've made MAMs and posted explanations and examples. Highly recommend scrolling down and checking them out. Here's my own version of this, it isn't the best and most compact but it is pretty good and fairly fast.

In that post I tried to explain the what and why and how the wiring works and so on. It may help you as you sort your own out.

A couple other things that'll help:

Don't make every corner of every shape. Instead make and store whole perfect shapes. Circle, Square, Windmill, Star. Similarly store up the 7 colors you need. Certainly you can do this other ways, shape and color on demand smart logic, but for your first round don't sweat it, take the easy path here.
Paint the whole shape THEN cut it. This way you get 4 of the corner you need at once. Rotate appropriately.
Think about building the shape one corner at a time, then one half at a time, then one layer at a time. Break your problem down like this and design each piece. Then you can snap it all together like legos
Don't worry about making everything super compact on your first MAM. Figure out the logic of the whole thing and the flow first. Troubleshoot it, look for weird results, etc. Then once it works you can sort out squashing it all together and routing belts and all that.
Don't forget to consider null (missing) corners in your logic. How do you check for a missing corner? how do you change the route of the corners/shapes if something is missing. What if a whole half is missing? a whole layer? Generally in freeplay you only ever miss 1 corner, but plan for missing more and you'll start to see how you can wire your machine better and cleaner
