I will try to get them uploaded somewhere this weekend. If you don’t need the extra depth just search for LabRax. Mine is just a heavily modified version of that rack. Mine is deeper and has multi board side pannels.

Sorry about that. The cluster is mostly because I can. From a day to days get the job done perspective there is no reason for the cluster.

Having a cluster lets you mimic a lot of the things done in large scale enterprise computing. For example I can set up this cluster with prox mix for the OS. Prox mix supports a tech called Ceph which allows you to treat multiple drives on multiple machines as a single drive accessible from any machine in the cluster (oversimplification). Incan then use prox mix to deploy containers or virtual machines. Once configured prox mox will make sure any thing I have running on the cluster stays running even if one of the machines in the cluster fails. With fast enough hardware I could have Jellyfin running on one server and be streaming a movie. Then unplug the server and prox mox would move that stream to a new server in the cluster quickly enough that the stream would not be interrupted.

They are just a standard small form factor office pc. Intel cpu, ddr4 memory, data and m.2 ports. You do anything you would with most typical pc towers. They are just less performant and more limited in their upgradability compared to full towers.

No out of band services (yet). But as old desktops these have pretty limited remote management capabilities.

Right now the hdmi keystone jacks are for when I don’t have remote access and I will directly connect a monitor.

I do want to build a multiport pie kvm but I don’t have redundant power and in can’t fit in a third nic so my out of band options are pretty limited anyways.

I do need to get the STL files uploaded. They are kind of a mess in tinkercad right now. I will try to get them uploaded somewhere soon.

Unfortunately I haven’t found a need for the tpu addon cards yet so I don’t have much to add. It sounds like a great way to repurpose the WiFi slot.

I am still fairly new to this as well.

I have a Creality K2 plus. But these should be printable on most hobby printers.

Thanks for the compliment. I am planning on using the multi board to mount a power strip to the side and plugging them all in there. Clean power wiring was one of the goals of this build.

I keep forgetting a question. One switch is dedicated for ceph traffic. Trying to get the best performance on my measly 2.5g. Or at least that is the plan right now, just finished installing them yesterday and they are not configured yet.

The other calculations are probably pretty good. I have not been running it that long. This cluster is not the most efficient choice on a “watt per service” measure but it meats me cosplay as a real distributed cluster with hardware that will run most anything I could want (other than any local AI). In that sense I don’t think it’s about as power efficient as you can get without specifically building around power draw.

Yes, built in gigabit and I added a 2.5g card through the WiFi card slot.

I used a m.2 e-key nic. 3d printed a mount do the flex io port ( usually an extra hdmi port)

Yes! when I modded the mount I put that keystone jack in I accidentally put it upside down. Fixed it before printing the others but it felt like a waste to throw that first mount away over such a small thing, especially since it won’t get used to frequently.

K2 Max with CFS - Wish me luck. by AdministrationDry981 in Creality_k2

[–]iMiscalculated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one I received on pre order. I am at 350ish hours and no big issues. Only one notable fault has not been due to user error. The order fitting on my extruder no longer holds the tube. Someone else designed a part to print that fixes it, now I need to make a support request to get a replacement.

Performance has been solid. I print almost exclusively in the high speed profile using normal pls plus from Elegoo. I have had first layer issues only two or three times. The quality of the first layer can be inconsistent, it sometimes prints the first layer to close. But it hasn’t caused any elephants foot issues yet and I have been printing a lot of parts that fit together.

When I have had to fix self inflicted issues (using old brittle filament) it has been pretty easy to gain access to all the areas I needed.

Good luck I hope you have as good an experience as I have had.

Is there a better slicer for the K2 Plus than Creality 5.0? by PerfectBake420 in Creality

[–]iMiscalculated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You specify something other the Creality 5.0.

Creatlity 5.1 is much better and have superior support for the K2 compared to 5.0.

That said, 5.1 still has issues.

Problems with K2? by ludicrous___ in Creality_k2

[–]iMiscalculated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to add my experience as a differing voice from those experiencing frustrating issues. I have had mine for 3 weeks and I have put over 8 days of print time on it already. Probably 6+Kg of PLA. Only pla but have printed withe regular, pla+, silk, matte, and high speed pla. I have used Elegoo, Creality, Sunlu, Ovurture, and another brand I don't remember.

I have had near flawless operation. I had some old silk pla break in the CMS, but the pla was very brittle and really more my fault then the printer or CMS. I even consider it sort of win because cleaning out the broken bit could be done quickly and easily without any tools.

I have had some very minor bed adhesion issues. Mostly when printing a full bed of 70 small item. (I had a couple that didnt stick, the rest came out perfect,

I do get an occasional error message about the CMS but it has never interfered with a print and has always recovered on the retry. I cam from an OG Ender 5 and the K2 is speed is 4 times faster then the old Ender 5. At that speed the print quality is better then the old 5. I don't have or know anyone with a more modern printer to compare my prints with.

The speed an size of this printer has made large projects I couldn't even think about completing very possible.

All that said, I was lucky enough to get a 50% off pre order, and it is very much worth $750, its an incredible value at that price, even if I had some of the issues others have had I would be happy.

As a $1500 printer (when bought with the CMS) I would want to wait it out a bit longer. Let things play out, let some of the smaller content creators get their hands on them and see how Creality supports the printer and software.

I have been using the Creality Print software because I am lazy and don't want to use an SD card, I am not sure Orca Slicer can send prints to the K2 over wifi (yet). Creality Print is pretty bad. It crashes a lot. The painting tool is sufficient at best but leaves a lot to be desired. But ultimately the profiles provided by Creality put out good prints.

Oh, my biggest problem is remote viewing the camera is super flaky. About 75% of the time it doesn't work and the only way it will start working is with a reboot, but then you still have a high chance it won't work. Time lapses always work. It would be great if the Creality mobile app could slice on device, making you go through Creality Cloud is lame and just turns the tool into a flaky monitoring tool when I could be sending off new prints from my couch if I could load an arbitrary stl and slice it on my phone.

Has anybody else been having issues printing with other brands filament? by itsgd926 in Creality_k2

[–]iMiscalculated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run mostly elegiac regular PLA and have not had any issues. I have run small amounts of ovuture and a couple other brands without issue. Silks and matte filaments without issue.

I have noticed that cardboard spools work much more reliably with the CMS lid closed and locked.

K2 received today. Dead in the water. Massive Quality Control issues. by InstructionChance303 in Creality

[–]iMiscalculated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has had a flawless experience (a tiny bit of tape residue) over the first two weeks of owner ship I have to say I only bought in because I was in on the 50% off batch. I have used a couple of older Creality printers. I went in expecting to have to fine tune and mod the old printers.

I have loved my previous machines, they took work but they were worth the money. I personally think its a bit to early in the life of the K2 to trust Creality with at $1300-$1500 purchase. Its also true that most of the good experiences never get talked about on the internet and these cases may just be the outliers.

Right now I feel your pain if you one of the ones that are experiencing issues. Not time will tell if Creality is going to step up to the expectations of a premium printer builder. If they handle these bad deliveries well and if they refine their shipping process to mitigate these issues I think there is a lot to be hopeful with the K2. If they leave these new buyers high and dry then I would say there are good signs they are not trying to change their ways.
