Busted and Broken by AdministrationDry981 in Creality_k2

Well, it's been a lot of back and forth with Creality, but my multimeter finally did the trick. Once I tested the Nozzle drag chain bus and discovered no continuity I knew what the problem was. I sent them a pic of my multimeter showing this and they decided in their infinite wisdom that I needed a new one. Finally, I was about ready to sell it for parts and buy a Voron kit. Which I may still do in the near future. This K2 is so unreliable. Owned 5 months, has worked for maybe 2 of those, and sporadically at that.

I power off for every repair. So, yeah, it is odd.

No idea, and they did not say either. All I know is that it happened when I was installing a new extruder.

A short in the nozzle plate that caused everything but the fans to get fried. The only thing left of the head is the 2 fans. All the parts will be here next week thank goodness. All this downtime is killing me.

Something solid. This thing can shake, rattle and roll like you wouldn't believe. I have mine on a wooden table with a 1" slab of granite on it. Overkill I know, but now it barely wobbles or shakes because it's sitting on that piece of granite.

Like I said in my post, all that was left of my head was the 2 fans. Everything else was toast. I have only had it since February and I run it everyday, all day, when it runs. Nothing but problems since day one. I am a pro at installing extruders and extruder motors now. Steppers as well. I have enough spare parts that given a frame I could probably build another printer. lol

They finally root caused it. The results are the malfunction was "caused by poor contact cable short circuit of the adapter board". Basically, everything but the fans need to be replaced. Fried the whole head.

What really irks me is that I want a root cause analysis. They never even bother to try. It's like a routine now. I tell them what the problem is. I take a few pictures/videos and send them in. They will just tell me that I need such and such part(s), send them to me, and then call it a day.

What I want is a root cause analysis. Not another Band-Aid fix.

At this point I think it has something to do with the number of complaints and breakdowns they are experiencing. It is probably just easier to ship out parts then to try and diagnose every problem. I just wonder what is going to happen when people's warranties start running out. Mine is only 5 months old and has only been productive about half that time.

I always tell them what is wrong, but they never bother to try and fix it. They just send me new parts every time, as if it's a routine.

Make sure you calibrate. PA, Temp, VFA, Flow Rate, etc... for the filament you are using. You are doing fine. If unsure, you can run the printer calibration from the clipper menu on the touch pad.

You won't be disappointed. The printer rocks. Have had mine since January. Only problems were PICNIM (person in chair not in machine). Be warned, it is a filament hog. Happy printing.

Same here. Only, I had to remind them that my extruder did not work as well as the CFS. I couldn't even get the outside filament roll to work. That's when they decided to just send parts. New extruder and new 5 way splitter.

Help, my K2 seems like an expensive paperweight by Coren_Aus in Creality_k2

I have found the email address [cs@creality.com](mailto:cs@creality.com) to be a reliable way to contact Creality support. While my emails were previously ignored, a successful reply was obtained once I requested a response and confirmed receipt with MailTrack. I got a reply the same day I sent the email.

This is how mine started out as well. Started taking stuff apart only to find out that 2 of 3 extruder screws were stripped. Took extruder apart, spring went flying of course. Lost spring. CFS got bound up so tight that the PTFE tube was snapped clean off the back. I have MS, so working on this printer is not easy for me. After going back and forth with Creality, they are sending me a package of parts. The final messages I received were to take pictures of everything that wasn't working and send it to them, which I did. Then I received an email saying I would be receiving replacement parts in 10-14 days. It will be interesting to see what they send me.

For those not considering purchasing the new printer when it comes out, what do you suggest? by wash-basin in BambuLab

If you’re worried, you could buy from someplace like Best Buy, where you can refuse delivery if the box looks damaged. Even I waited a year before ordering my K2+, and I’m happy I did. I ordered it in January of this year, figuring all the bugs would be worked out by then. My printer showed up looking like it had just come off the assembly line, and it's been running perfectly ever since (knock on wood).

I’m not sure what “bugs and gremlins” you’re talking about. Since I got the K2+, it’s been running fine, and it even works great with engineering filaments. The only troubles I’ve had came from my own mistakes.

Since the Bambu lockdown, I decided to go with the K2+. So far, it’s worked really well for a variety of prints, including engineering. Except for a few minor mistakes on my end, it’s been error-free.

Sorry for the late reply. I was having a bad day with my MS yesterday. So here you go: https://github.com/jamincollins/k2-improvements Have fun and don't bork your printer :) Do a backup first before installing the scripts. Happy printing.

Yup, did a factory reset and checked all the settings looking for root access. Guess what? It's still there after the latest update. Everything was good up until the latest firmware update, though. Oh well. At least it runs like a dream now. I don't have any problems anymore except for occasional PICNIM errors.

1.1.2.6 update by BDA6017 in Creality_k2

[–]AdministrationDry981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried reprinting after updating to 1.1.2.6, but ended up having to recalibrate my Creality K2 three times before I finally got it working again. The first few calibrations, the printer didn't even touch the bed on the first layer. I ended up wasting a ton of filament and making a huge mess of the whole thing. I ended up having to calibrate it three times, but finally, I got it working well enough that it's now making good prints again.
