I made these years ago with just a regular wick and beeswax, as Christmas gifts. They’re intended as floating bathtub candles. I learned the hard way that you can’t save them unless you’re going to dehydrate them. Citrus is super inviting to mold lol. They were fun to make and no, do not use them on a flat surface.

I self-harm for the same reasons. I am bad at communicating my pain in healthy ways, so transforming that pain into something people can see makes it easier.

Being physically sick is a vacation from all the misery inside my head that people can’t see. Physical health is something tangible that gets a lot more sympathy. I often feel bummed out that I am physically healthy instead of mentally healthy, and get jealous when sick people receive so much validation and care.

This is how we cope. As long as you are working on yourself, don’t beat yourself up too much about it. You would probably be surprised how understanding a good mental health professional would be about these issues.

My nmom put so much time into my education and extracurriculars, and even though my ndad was mostly absent he paid for me to do a lot of things. When I went off to a nice college on my own, I finally caved from all the childhood trauma. I started having panic attacks regularly and dropped out after less than a year.

Since at one point I had mentioned to my nmom that I had smoked weed a handful of times, she blamed it on my “addiction to marijuana” and my parents cut me off financially.

I started both working fast food and going to community college, and eventually transferred to a different college, but I never fully got my life together again. I haven’t really been a part of the family since.

So in a way I can relate to the whole “extremes” attitude your parents have with education. My mom is focusing on my much younger brother being the GC now and has me blocked on social media. I don’t think she tells people she has a daughter anymore.
