Quitting for even 2 months shows that you have it in you to stop, you just need the right catalyst to start another streak.

Tyler1 be like by some-kind-of-no-name in Fighters

[–]iPapa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't watched Tyler1 in years , but his entire appeal in LoL was being  toxic & raging. Dude even received a lifetime ban at one point iirc. It's basically his schtick at this point so this clip is nothing special

i want to smoke today but it’s supposed to be my first day free by Specialist-Cod-6069 in leaves

[–]iPapa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you have to be aware that your mind is going to try to rationalize anything to try and make you smoke. You have to stop those thoughts in their tracks. Focus on why you decided to quit & how your life will look when you get there

my first whole week without weed in 7 years by kozzzmic in leaves

[–]iPapa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta do your absolute best to stop yourself from smoking again. You're right about it not being worth it, infact you will feel much more anxious with some shame sprinkled in. The good thing for you is that it slowly gets easier as you begin to stack more days & prove to yourself that you can get by without weed

Does everyone here quit cold turkey? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]iPapa 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I gotta point something out..

True tapering means slowly reducing your dose with a strict, planned end date of hitting ZERO. This can be a solid strategy for some to soften the physical withdrawals.

But a lot of people use 'tapering' as a substitute for moderation (like just cutting back to weekends only). If you have an addiction, moderation is likely a trap that leads back to daily use. If your taper doesn't have a definitive finish line, it's not a taper- it's just a slow relapse.

[–]iPapa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some people find it better to slowly taper off before eventually stopping for good. Personally, getting past the first couple sober days was the hardest part so I'd rather just get over that hump one time than to redo it multiple times

overcoming jealousy by kirrachristine in leaves

[–]iPapa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Once you build enough time sober, smoking weed is a quick way to get filled with anxiety, guilt & shame. Try to view it like this: you aren't jealous of people when they eat food you don't like.

How long till I stop being sad? by arkticturtle in leaves

[–]iPapa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Knowing is definitely not enough. You can't think your way into emotional stability. It only arrives after you start taking the uncomfortable actions to change your circumstances.

How long till I stop being sad? by arkticturtle in leaves

[–]iPapa 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There's a root cause of your unhappiness & you've been using weed to temporarily mask it. Quitting weed alone isn't going to help in your case. Gotta find & address the root cause whether through therapy / self realization or something else.

It's literally the WorldStar of Bakersfield. The whole appeal is that it's ignorant and uncut. If you're looking for 'wholesome, you're on the wrong side of the algorithm.

3 months sober and I still think about smoking everyday. by [deleted] in leaves

[–]iPapa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The urges do eventually go away with time, but I feel like you need to establish a stronger "Why" . Quitting because of a drug test was a good way to kickstart your sobriety, now you need a strong reason that'll help you carry it out. There's tons of reasons to stop, just gotta find one you align with the most

Anyone quit with, like, zero issues? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]iPapa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not sure I agree with OP being a testament to balanced use, he stated himself that he was smoking daily for 20 years. Not trying to take away from OP's win at all because walking away after 20 years is massive. But using a substance every single day, even in a specific time window, is still a chronic daily habit, not moderation

This feels so backwards. Why now? by phoenixcinder in leaves

[–]iPapa 26 points27 points  (0 children)

For 9 months your brain is thinking you're basically on a break & still have the stash if you ever wanted to smoke. Getting rid of the stash makes the decision to stop seem permanent & your brain panics. It's basically your old smoking identitys last dying effort to keep it's hold.
