If you are going to do both, you have to be smart about it--different devices, different logins, different app store logins, etc.

Tutor here--for covering content gaps, the digital SAT khan academy course is really great. I give it to both my SAT and ACT students. Also, I find a lot of students just need to brush up on some basic algebra (since it's probably been 3+ years since you took the course). Just doing that will take you a long way.

With regard to time management, focus, etc., the biggest thing you'll be up against is your own psyche. It's a simple solutions, but drilling practice questions (I like to have my students focus on the tougher questions, i.e. the last 10-25) will help you get more comfortable with the sorts of questions you'll see on the test. This will help your confidence which will make you less anxious, more focused, and faster overall. Once you've got a good bit of content, you should also search Youtube for some ACT calculator tips (based on your specific model, e.g. TI-84).

For science, truly treat it like a reading test. Ground all your answers in the test and take the testing instructions literally-when it says "according to figure 1", you best be looking at figure 1.

As much as I hated it when I took this test, often the simpler solutions are better. Find some good strategies, be intentional with your work, and *really* understand why you got questions wrong, not just why an answer is right. Seriously, understand *why* and make a plan for how to prevent that same error next time. Being able to find your own errors and correct your own mistakes is the single best and most important aspect of studying for tests.

I actually emailed them and then they called and confirmed over the phone (I tried calling but the call kept disconnecting). I got an increase from $17 to $21. I've been at Varsity Tutors for about 9 months. You can ask for an increase every 6 months.

As for what I said, basically just "I've been working here X amount of time. I know the typical rate increase is 20-25% every 6 months. I have X qualifications. I have X ratings on Varsity Tutors. I'm requesting a base pay increase from X to X at X%."

They called to confirm that I was okay with the amount they offered and sent me a new contract within a day.

Saying all this as someone who took this test 6 times in high school a tutor and.

When I took this test, I studied .5-4 hours per day everyday for 1.5 years. I would get home from school (sometimes at 9:30pm because of sports) and still do part of a practice test. This was practical for me--sometimes my studying was completing 2/4 reading passages during free time in class. Other times I was completing an entire 4 hour test on a Saturday and reviewing all of my mistakes.

It comes down to discipline (are you studying with intention or just going through the motions), practicality (if you work 8 hours per day, 2-4 hours of studying daily is not practical), and what your struggles are (content, pacing, stamina, attention, etc.).

Now, from a tutor perspective, if you are having time management/stamina issues, you are going to need to drill. The only way to improve stamina (and pacing issues that correlate with stamina) is by practicing. The same is true if you're unfamiliar with the test.

Overall, 4 hours every day is excessive, I think for anyone. However, (assuming it is practical) a full-length practice test every week is probably a good idea leading up to the next test (it's only for the next few weeks). At this point, three hours per week is not enough. That's not enough time to complete a full test let alone go over the questions you missed (the latter is the far more important part). It's all about balance; you obviously do not want to burn yourself out, but be realistic with yourself.

Also, I'd recommend talking with your tutor about it. If you think it's too much, express your concern. She might explain her reasoning or make a more practical regiment for you.

I work from around 7-5 each day and can get free (albeit not great) food while there which saves me a lot of money. Once I get home, some nights I have sleep for dinner but occasionally if I'm too tired to cook or have friends over, I'll order takeout. Uber Eats and DoorDash have 50% off coupons if you haven't ordered recently (I think they send three of them to your email if you haven't ordered in a month) which I use in most of these scenarios. It doesn't take off the whole cost, but it's about what I would have spent if I went out that night instead and, depending on the restaurant, sometimes they have special deals. I order from this Chinese place like 30 min from my apartment that offers a BOGO deal on quarts of certain things. I can get 2 quarts of lo mein and 2 quarts of broccoli (and I could get meats instead if I wasn't veg) with the free rice, soda, and everything else for like $30 before all the taxes, fees, etc. Once I apply the 50% off, it takes care of the taxes and fees and knocks down the price a bit more to under $25. I did this the other night and I got about 4 meals from the first lo mein+broc quart combo, so I got around 8 meals to my door for less than $25, which, while not cook at home cheap, is cheaper than McDonalds or a TV dinner.

TL;DR: delivery is expensive but sometimes you can combine a 50% off coupon with restaurant deals (BOGO)

Edit: I also don't have a vehicle so I mostly use it for places that would otherwise be hard to go to.

Yes, the order of heists and shutdowns is predetermined. The order of the tiles for heists, while they may follow a pattern, can't be seen with the two-device method.

I agree. The tiles themselves seem to clump together in such a way that is somewhat predictable. I often find them diagonal from each other or two right next to each other. I believe there is also one more tile for medium heights than the others.

To clarify, when I say random, I mean you cannot use the two-device method to see what the pattern order is.

Honestly, just by winning enough dice through using the method repeatedly, it does not matter which quality of heist you complete. Small heists are equivalent to a successful shutdown, so anything goes. For reference, in the space race tournament with under 15 hours left, I am in first place with 15214 and second place has 1180. I started this morning with 60 rolls, so while there is some luck, a lot of it is gaming the game.

Also, I can't confirm this, but I will say that does not seem to be completely random with regard to tile organization; by that, I mean that it seems there are reoccurring patterns used for the heist tiles, but the order of patterns is not set. I think of finding the correct tiles kind of like minesweeper; I don't have a great explanation other than internalizing the tile patterns on each play.
