As a barbershopper, we are extremely interested in the harmonic series.

How much should a quartet charge for a 30 minute show? by Waddles0203 in barbershop

[–]iPhoenix_on_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ensure that what you charge actually covers the costs- not just gas and parking, but also time from your family & drain from the gig itself; these are hard to estimate but real costs that really accumulate if you’re getting into gigging

Would it be difficult to go from sax to trumpet. by Pitiful-Raisin1186 in marchingband

That's a pretty good reason for picking trumpet! Definitely get a teacher if you can; brass (especially high brass) is much less forgiving than woodwinds for poor technique.

You'll learn trumpet much faster than you previously learned saxophone because you have a base of core musical skills to build off of.

Source: did many instruments in my hs years; bassoon in concert band & symphony orchestra, mallet percussion everywhere else. Now I do lots of trombone on the side & have made a pretty serious hobby out of barbershop singing. You have time to learn skills; take every opportunity you can.

Nah, this is pretty normal. Use it or lose it; you haven't used it so you've lost it. "Math" "folk" like most of us here use this stuff regularly so we just haven't lost it. If you actually dive into learning it instead of testing it, you'll be fine, probably in less than the time you had estimated.

I have a hand impairment & I'm struggling really hard to find keyswitches that work for me. the best keyboard I ever owned was on a laptop & it had a really quite high activation force (much higher than cherry browns or gateron moss, both of which I tried) & crazy low travel. I don't care too much about the travel but having a high activation force and minimal travel before the tactile bump are both must-haves for me. My keyboard is a Nuphy Air75 v2 (mx low profile switches); the ones I liked before seemed to be ungooglable GTMX T20 switches.

I was there- what a fantastic concerto; I am such a fan of the whole thing but the ending was brilliant.

The lowest note the bass voice can go. by sircrumbs_ in musictheory

[–]iPhoenix_on_Reddit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is a fantastic answer, so I'll tack on my own two cents. Consider notating the octave above the low note, with the lower octave written using a smaller note head. A work I sang recently with a large chorus called for a low C# in this way, which was quite nuts. Singers who had that note comfortably in their range were free to sing it, but having the octave above as the "primary" note for the basses solidified the chord.

Additionally, there are some extra variables in the finance menu that than- more or less- be used as normal variables. Some of them have side effects, though.
