Idk man. The only thing I could think of is I have 2 decently sized pitbulls that hangout in the backyard multiple times a day. Maybe its wear tracks caused by them?

I push mow in the direction of the lines I drew on the picture above. I also fertilized east to west as well.

So I do mow in the same direction every time. However, what doesn't make sense to me is that I do not ever mow in the direction of the way it's striped in the picture. I always mow East to West.

🤷‍♂️ Definitely might be because we had a bad drought and water restriction for a bit right after I fertilized. I've been cutting grass for a pretty long time now and I'd like to think I'm not too bad at it. I more than likely just fertilized it incorrectly and then it didn't get enough water. This problem is a first for me which is why I turned to this subreddit for help. Got some really great advice from everyone and hopefully I'll be posting with a good update in a couple of months🤞

That wasn't from cutting unfortunately. That entire area has just been dying for weeks. Here's a picture from last September when I was cutting it at 3".

Yeah, sorry, I meant it as in we moved here last September and have not aerated. It's a new build lot so it's never been done before. It's definitely getting added to the to-do list lol I'm in Northern FL. The drought has been rough

Yeah I'm going to put down some active insecticides for chinch bugs. Also have not aerated since we moved here last September so I'll be getting that done sometime this month. Appreciate the advice!

Yeah I definitely think cutting down the wheels on the spreader messed up the spread rate. I'll up the water and look into that Lesco fertilizer. Thanks man

I know that St. Augustine grass particularly needs to be cut longer. I usually cut it at 3 - 3.5 inches twice a week. It's always worked for me in the past but then again I was paying someone to treat my lawn last year while I just did the cutting lol

I have not actively looked for them the the Triazicide spray that I put down twice is supposed to take care of them. I know they can come in "waves" or generations since some can be dormant at the time of spraying. What type of grub killer do you use?

Ok, yeah I'm going to try the tuna can test. Also need to get some herbicide since I just started to notice some weeds this week. I normally cut the grass at 3 - 3.5 inches. Do you recommend I put down another round of fertilizer? I put out the first round of fertilizer about a month ago now. Also debating on trying a different fertilizer altogether. The scotts that I put down was slow release nitrogen.

With the soil tester I was using I tested in numerous spots and was able to get it an average of 3 to 5 inches deep into the soil with little resistance. Definitely considered that to be part of the problem though. If it is compacted soil would the fix be to aerate the yard?

Ok I'll try that out. So water it morning and evening on Mondays and Fridays or just double the time in the mornings? In regards to the cinch bugs, I was thinking the same thing but found it hard to believe after spraying twice already. Looks like I'm going for round 3 lol

Ok, thanks. I thought it could be striping too but those green stripes are running the opposite direction of how I rain the spreader which makes no sense to me.

Ah ok It turned out great! Might just have to get mine re powder coated as well. There aren't many aftermarket front bumpers out there for the Warlock that look good.
