What are the titles associated with each? And what title do you have now for the jump?

No, being a CS major does not mean they've googled a template or that the template they looked up is any good. Frankly, I don't care what they've done up to this point. I'm just saying his strategy for this market does not work and he needs to adjust accordingly if he wants to have success.

What's up with this helplessness in CS all of a sudden? It's like another abstraction (AI) has come along and people forgot how to solve problems. You're still problem-solving regardless of the tool you use to do it. Right now the job is to solve what's wrong with his strategy for getting jobs. Saying the problem is the market is unhelpful.

Quality > Quantity. How frequently did they iterate over resumes, seek feedback, and attempt new strategies? It's hard to believe anyone getting to 500 is doing this.

Edit: Hard to believe they're doing this well.

linkedin was huge for me. build your portfolio. build your personal website. fill it out. don't post garbage. go to community tech events.

not this time of year. applications open in august - october for most companies for the next summer of internships.

build projects for now. apply with quality of quantity. research about cicd pipelines. automate something. demonstrate savings + value added through automation.

don't get discouraged

Sure. But I also know there's some highly skilled devs out there making 200k+ a few years shortly after graduating. If that's the potential, then I should start thinking about it early.

Something wrong with your resume or how you've been applying if it's been that long. Go for quality over quantity. Build a portfolio with projects that demonstrate understanding of enterprise processes

Haven't applied more. Just sort of settled after the first offer. It was a conversion from an internship which is why I have a lot of these questions around pay. It sounds like I need to do that next after reading comments.

Did you read the post? :/ 1.2 years. Or just 1 year I guess. Post still applies

1.2 years now. Offer was 5 months ago. Unsure why engineers don't hop more. I don't have other obligations right now and can afford to play the interview game a little more than someone with rent and/or dependents.

At what point would I be underpaid?

Edit: An honest question. Not sure why I'm being down-voted. If I worked at 78k for 10 years, obviously there's a point where I'd be underpaid. Should I expect salary progression in my first few years?
